Chapter 78 - Another Encounter (EDITED)

"Isn't it too quiet?" Lucia asked, glancing around the cave. She fanned the hem of her robe against her neck and sighed. "And too hot."

The scenery had shifted after they left the resting hall. Now they trudged over dried magma, where glowing rivers of lava crawled like veins under black rock. Steam hissed from cracks, and fiery bubbles burst across the walls, spitting molten droplets that could burn through armor in seconds. Even standing close was enough to trigger a [Burn] status.

"Scar's group must've engaged some respawned monsters," Alecia said, waving a hand in front of her flushed face. The heat was brutal, and the thick air made every breath heavy.

If this were real life, they would've already collapsed from dehydration. Thankfully, this was a fantasy world, a simulation that mimicked reality without letting players die from the environment alone.
