Chapter 5 - The Woman in Red

AUTHOR'S POV

Scott walked out of the bathroom with a white towel wrapped around his waist while he dry his hair with a small towel with one hand. He then wiped his sculpted body from his neck to his chest down before tossing the towel on the floor. He faced the mirror, showing a full view of his large black tribal tattoo from his left side of the body. Then, he fixed his hair and wore his black stud earring on his left ear.

He put on a black long sleeve polo, which he folded the sleeves up to his elbows, a black trousers and black leather oxfords. Before leaving the bedroom, he pocketed his gunmetal lighter engraved with a full moon and a howling wolf. As a hardcore smoker, he never leaves without it. As soon as he open the door, a dark brown-haired woman wearing a white tight body con dress suddenly jumped on him.

"Hey handsome! Miss me?", the woman giggled like a child, tightening her embrace around Scott's neck.

Scott grabbed her arms, and pulled her away with distinct displeasure. "How did you know I'm here, Christina?". Christina Rivers is the daughter of the Devlins family friend. She have liked Scott ever since, hoping she is the Luna whom he has been looking for.

"Lucas called me. The moment I found out that the wedding was cancelled, I came running here. I knew you'd do something about it", Christina snaked Scott's arm as they head out. With all the eyes looking, Scott didn't want to push and embarrass Christina. For a long time, he have been used to her childish ways. Though, he hoped that Christina would choose to be less touchy, especially in front of the public eye. So, with a long sigh, he walked awkwardly to the bar while he let Christina clung to him like a little girl holding her favorite teddy.

The pair arrived at the busy upscale bar with the sight of Lucas making out with a random girl in the VIP lounge. Scott cleared his throat to try and break the two and said, "Has your syphilis been cured?". The girl was shocked and pushed Lucas away breaking the kiss.

"You wish! Don't worry darling, this as*hole is just messing around", Lucas then continued flirting with the girl. "Welcome! I thought you'll gonna sulk in bed all night so I sent Christina".

Pulling Christina away from his arm, Scott took a cigarette and placed it in his mouth. "Do we hang out here? Because I won't be watching this all night", he lights his cigarette and puffed the smoke towards Lucas.

"I told you we're gonna have some fun, that's why Christina and I invited some people over. Ready?", Lucas playfully flashed a smile.

Scott nodded in approval, pinched his nose bridge between his eyes, as he jump on the seat beside Lucas. They occupied two connecting VIP lounges, served with different kinds of hard alcoholic beverages. Sitting in the middle was Scott, with Christina clinging onto him, and Lucas who cannot stop making out with the girl he just met. Some were dancing, and some were drinking. The lounge was filled with laughters, chitchats and glass clinking.

"You're so distant ever since I arrived in the island, Scott. Don't tell me you're disappointed not marrying the girl?", Christina pouted as she lean on his shoulder, circling her finger on Scott's chest.

Scott has never had any form of intimate relationship with a girl before. His world revolved in the pack, the Devlin businesses and his siblings. His best friend Lucas hooked him up with different girls, but he never got interested with any of them. He believed that his mind, body and soul only belongs to his Luna.

Christina, on the other hand, is the only girl that have grown close to him, aside from his sister, Reina. The Rivers are good business partners for the Devlins for more than two decades now. She is a petite woman, with short sleek dark brown hair matching her dark brown eyes. No man could probably resist her charm and boldness. Scott admired her confidence and straightforwardness, but he only sees her like a little sister.

"I've been like this, Christina. You know me.", Scott said as he positioned himself at the edge of the seat so Christina would move away from him. He lit another cigarette and sipped from his glass of whiskey. Christina rolled her eyes and leaned back, fanning the smoke that Scott puffed. It's true. For the longest time, Scott have always been stoic. It's almost as if she's getting tired of the chase. Then again, when she looks at his eyes, and feels the touch of his skin... she becomes weak to her knees thinking that one day, it will all be worth it.

A moment later, Scott noticed a faint fragrant scent that lured him out of the lounge and towards the bar. It felt like, he can only hear nothing but his heart beat slower and then faster at the same time. His attention directed to a brunette woman wearing a red fitted maxi dress, with mesmerizing sapphire eyes. Time seemed to slow down and his world emptied like she's the only one person he could see. He could hear Christina and Lucas calling his name but, he is so captivated with the enchanting beauty of the woman he just took a glance at - a glance he couldn't break.

And then he knew.

"Finally, my Luna", Scott whispered to himself with his eyes locked on the woman in red.

He couldn't resist to go near his Luna who reels him in. As he go slowly, he noticed that she is not alone. She was sitting at the bar with a blonde guy, who seemed like she was having an argument with. As he was about to make a step closer, Christina was already clutching on his arm. Again. It was only then when he got distracted, seeming like he just woke up from a beautiful dream.

"Hey, are you okay? Do you know them?", Christina wondered, trying to drag Scott back to the lounge. Behind them was Lucas staring at Scott, who somewhat understood what just happened.

"Yea, I guess. . . " Scott breathlessly answered, while he look back at the bar where the woman in red was supposed to be. His brows furrowed and found himself utterly dumbfounded that his Luna is nowhere to be seen. He turned his head around, searching for the woman he just imprinted on. His heart suddenly longed to see her once more.

"Yea - you're okay? Or Yea - you know them?", Christina started losing her patience as she grit her teeth while tightening her grip on Scott.

Lucas held Christina, gently drawing her away from Scott. He then spoke his anxious best friend, "Go, Bro".

Confused, Christina frowned and waved her hand midair before dragging herself back to the lounge. "Unbelievable!", she heatedly exclaimed. This is what they always do. Lucas would tag her along to be with Scott, and then, ditch her out when the two meet eye-to-eye.

Without hesitation, Scott walked out of the bar in big strides and looked for the woman who made his heart skip a beat. He followed her scent with much anticipation. He anxiously combed the lobby, the pool area and the beachfront as her scent started to fade. Scott even went through the stone pathways going to the bungalows for the hope to see her, but to no avail. In a matter of seconds, her scent was gone.

"Where are you?", he sighed.
