I had no real destination in mind when I'd left Evan behind in that restaurant.
I simply wandered through the city, letting my feet carry me wherever they happened to go, without bothering to think too much about where I was actually headed.
Eventually, I ended up near a beach, and after walking around for a while, I ended up sitting on a metal bench mounted on slightly higher ground that overlooked the beach and the ocean.
I had hoped that being alone for a while would help me clear my head, but it appeared that reality had other plans for me.
"Eliza?"
The voice that called out my name was one I recognised, as was the life sign that I'd detected the moment I heard the sound.
When I turned around, I found myself looking at the last person I expected to see.
'Gabrielle…Larson, right?'
Evan's ex-girlfriend.
We had met before, so she wasn't exactly a stranger to me, but seeing her here was still unexpected.
