"This isn't about us anymore, Di!" Alvin snapped, his voice rising for the first time, overflowing with erupting emotion. "She knows everything! She knows Riana betrayed her, she knows we have the evidence! That means… she has eyes and ears here, around us! You're not safe!"
He slowly pushed Audia toward the back door, his eyes wildly scanning every window, every corner of the room, as if enemies were already everywhere.
"Listen to me. I will turn myself in tomorrow. That's the only way to save that boy's life and… maybe, to make them drop their guard."
"Then what will you do?" Audia asked, tears finally streaming down her pale cheeks.
"I'll walk into the wolves' den," Alvin answered, his voice suddenly cold and forged in steel determination. "But I won't go alone. I'll bring along a 'gift' for Clarissa. A guarantee."
He opened his palm. A small silver flash drive rested there, something Audia hadn't noticed before.
