Victor heard these words and couldn't help but frown, even beginning to reflect on how excessive his past actions must have been to make her feel his presence now was inappropriate.
"Mr. Yates is presiding, so it's not possible to do without me right now." Victor sat down beside her and pulled her into his arms. "Why are you sleeping here?"
"I don't want to go inside." Polly leaned against Victor's embrace; it was only after waking that she felt the cold, but fortunately, Victor had arrived.
Victor lowered his head and planted a kiss on her chilled forehead.
Mrs. Lewis saw the people sitting at the door when she came out in the morning but didn't disturb them, thinking to go inside to check if the old gentleman had woken up.
Polly closed her eyes slightly, and soon heard Mrs. Lewis's call.
