In almost all the photos of Emma Benson released to the public, she's wearing makeup; today her makeup was very light.
Plus her very ordinary clothes, so the two of them didn't recognize her right away.
Especially Michelle, who'd been studying at West Point in the United States all this time; she didn't pay attention to anything outside the military, so she definitely didn't know Emma Benson.
But the female lieutenant colonel looked at her for a moment, then suddenly widened her eyes in shock, quickly snapping to attention and saluting Emma again: "Madam Marshal!"
Emma watched; since she wasn't a soldier she couldn't return the salute, so she just smiled without saying anything.
Madam Marshal? Michelle froze, staring at Emma in astonishment, unable to believe that this petite, delicate woman in front of her was actually the marshal's wife!
"Madam…" She came back to herself, and immediately saluted as well.
