Leila Bennett knew Lucy Ansley all too well, and when she didn't hear her assurance, her voice immediately rose, "Are you just brushing me off?"
"I'm not brushing you off." Lucy stood in front of the double bed, sighing silently, "He won't do anything reckless."
This statement sounded particularly unreasonable.
Leila even had the odd illusion of "If Henry Ronan behaves, then the innocent will hold the line; but if he doesn't, the innocent will cross the line."
Even after hanging up the phone, Leila didn't get a clear answer from Lucy.
In the hospital room, Leila's mother, Grace Lee, was receiving an IV. Seeing her frowning face, she consoled, "You're worrying for nothing. I've watched young Lucy grow up. She's got a sharper mind than you, how could she not tell good from bad?"
Leila put down her phone with an eye-roll, "How did you come to that conclusion?"
