Henry Ronan slightly raised his thick eyebrows, pulling her waist closer, "Are you really trying to change it, or just trying to distract yourself, hmm?"

Lucy Ansley tugged at the collar of the man's shirt, lowered her eyes, and said softly, "Do you think... I'm finding things to do to avoid facing reality?"

Henry Ronan didn't respond, but his silence was an affirmation.

Lucy forced herself off the man's lap, walked to the floor-to-ceiling window, overlooking the yellowish glow from the ground lamps below.

No matter how composed she appeared, she couldn't escape the sharp gaze of the man.

Lucy closed her eyes briefly, reluctantly admitting, "Yeah, I actually wanted to do something to shift my focus..."

This shift wasn't an escape but was meant to prevent herself from falling into a vicious cycle of emotions.

With that said, the man on the sofa also stood up and walked over.
