Elise Don withdrew her gaze and looked up at Oliver Bloom.
He was unlocking his phone, ready to check out, and when he noticed Elise's curiosity, he looked back at her.
"What's up?" Oliver asked.
"Nothing much."
Elise continued to stand there, but her eyes couldn't help wandering in that direction.
It was finally their turn to check out. Oliver turned around to pick up the basket, noticing Elise's slightly diverted gaze, and followed her line of sight.
That gaudy display was probably the most thought-provoking among the everyday items.
Oliver curled his lips into a smile and intentionally asked her, "What are you looking at?"
Elise quickly raised her head and answered in a second, "Lollipops."
"I want to eat lollipops."
Oliver chuckled, intentionally bypassing that row of boxes, and grabbed a large bag of assorted flavored lollipops, placing it on the checkout counter.
The cashier began scanning the items.
Beep once, then beep again, it felt like a countdown.
