William moved over and sat down next to Elise, feeling a lump under his seat. He pulled it out and found it was a trophy with a small line of text engraved on it.
"Outstanding Graduate?!"
William grinned, "Daughter, you're an outstanding graduate! I didn't hear you mention it this morning..." The old father fondly weighed the trophy in his hand, "Really good! Our Lily, always excelling."
"Oliver, you might not know, but Lily received scholarships every year during her four years of college."
Oliver smiled, "I've heard Lily mention it, she's indeed impressive."
William was beaming with pride, very proud of his daughter.
Oliver looked at Elise and noticed she wore a world-weary expression, her demeanor somewhat cold.
Sis Yu called everyone to eat, and while William washed his hands, Oliver asked Elise.
"What's wrong?"
Elise pinched a bit of chopped cilantro and sprinkled it into the seafood dipping sauce, saying, "Nothing."
