Mrs. Hawking walked out of the office, she spent some few minutes outside whimpering. She decided to return to the office because she wanted to know the date of her son and if anything can be done to change that.
"I am sorry Sir, I did everything I could, but I couldn't evade being paralyzed. His left leg can be paralyzed," Dr. Alik explained.
Mr. Hawking was just staring at him, his face void of any emotions. He seemed not to be believing what he was hearing.
"Doctor you said can be paralyzed, is there a room of not being paralyzed?" Mrs. Hawking asked.
"The chances of Mr. Frank being paralyzed is 50/50," the doctor replied as he stared at her. The information broke her heart drastically.
'I can't tell them the other crucial information,' Dr. Alik thought as he stared at them.
"Anything else doctor?" Mr. Hawking found his tongue.
"That is it for now. I just wanted to let you know before he wakes up, and please accept what comes your way so that you help him to accept and his healing process. Mr. Frank will be up in the next forty-five minutes. I bet you won't want to miss that," Dr. Alik said.
"You are right ab pleas send he wakes up, I want my son to be moved to the VIP wardroom," Mr. Hawking instructed.
Doctor Alik nodded. Mr. Hawking arose and held his wife lovingly, they walked out of the office.
They walked back to the room 102.
They found Dr. Maya and Audrey in the room. The three friends were seated outside. So, Mrs. Hawking tried her level best to hide her emotions. They just have to plan on how they were going to deliver that information to their son when he wakes up.
Audrey was seated at the chair near the bed that Frank was lying on, she had Frank's hand in hers as she kissed each time, hoping that he wakes up as soon as possible.
Maya had to pretend that she was not seeing anything. Just the previous day, Audrey made do we that she hated it to the core.
Audrey turned when she sensed the presence of other people in the room.
"Aunt, Uncle, what did the doctor tell you?" she asked.
Maya knew that Audrey didn't believe what she just told her, some few minutes ago.
Mrs. Wechuli humphed, "That he will be awake in the next forty-five minutes."
"Oh, is that so. I will go back to my position. I will be back when he wakes up. And my parents had said that they will be here soon. I already called them, excuse me." Audrey said as she glared at Maya.
Maya was an illegitimate child of Mr. Hepburn. Mr. Hepburn refused to recognize her so that he can keep his marriage with Audrey's mother. The only thing she got was a surname that she don't like using.
Maya understood what a glare from Audrey meant. She wouldn't like it if Audrey's mother sets her eyes on her. They will end up causing a scene in the hospital. But Maya was confused, there was no way she was going to leave her patient alone, even if his parents are there with him. She was to be present as a medic.
"Hey, remind your name again," Mrs. Hawking struck a conversation.
"I am Dr. Maya, ma'am," Maya replied.
"Wow that's great, you are so young, are you a qualified doctor or a trainee?" Mrs. Hawking asked.
Before Maya could answer, Mr. and Mrs. Hepburn walked in.
Fortunately for her, Tasha, Audrey's mother, didn't see her. Tasha went straight to where Carol Hawking was seated and pulled her into a tight hug.
Maya used that opportunity to sneak out of the room. Teddy, Marcus, and Warren were seated outside.
"Maya," Teddy called.
Maya turned to look at him, Teddy stood up and walked to her, "How are you doing? I know how it's hard to be a doctor, that's why I refused to study this course."
"I am fine Teddy, thank you for asking. I am just worried about your friend Frank, although the operation was successful, his left leg might be affected," Maya informed.
Teddy looked down on the floor regrettably, then looked back at her.
"It's all of my fault, I wish we didn't go there in the first place. So are you assigned to him as his nurse?" Teddy inquired.
"Not sure yet, please excuse me," Maya excused when she spotted Dr. Alik walking towards their direction.
