"I am so sorry Carol for what happened to your son. Ooh, poor Frank," Tasha said as she pulled away from the hug.
Carol nodded as she took her eyes to Frank. Mr. Hawking and Mr. Hepburn had excused themselves after exchanging greetings. They went outside to get fresh air as they leave their wife to chat.
"Please forgive me for not coming as early as possible when I heard what had happened. I was in the meeting and I couldn't leave the board of directors alone," Tasha explained.
Carol nodded then, "Yeah, I understand Tasha. You are here now."
Carol said, as she blinked severally, avoiding the tears that were threatening to fall. Tasha looked at her and wondered why she was crying.
"Hey what's wrong?" Tasha asked as she gazed at her in the face.
Carol sniffled and told her what Doctor Alik had told them about their only son being paralyzed.
Tasha was so surprised as she flinched back.
'Will I be able to put up with a paralyzed son-in-law? Will my daughter agree to marry him if this happens?' She wondered.
Carol stared at Tasha, and she noticed when Tasha changed facial expressions. Carol wiped her eyes then asked.
"What are you thinking? I have seen you frowning," Carol asked.
Tasha held Carol's hand in his," Oh dear, I am feeling bad for you. I just asked God why he is allowing these to happen to you? You don't deserve it. This is the only child he had blessed you with, why punish you by allowing him to be paralyzed and use a wheelchair the rest of his life?" Tasha said.
Carol Hawking and Tom Hawking were the most wealth and influential people in the country. They have only one child by the name Frank Hawking. The heir to Hawking enterprise, and he is engaged to Audrey Hepburn.
Carol had difficult at conceiving naturally. In fact, he had several miscarriages, due to the walls of her womb being weak. There was silence for some time, "It's taking long for him to wake up, I wonder when he is going to wake up."
"Who is assigned to him, by the way?" Tasha asked.
"His doctor is here with us. Doctor how…." Carol stopped when she noticed that the seat Maya was sitting on was empty.
"When did she leave?" Carol asked.
"Who?" Tasha asked as she took her focus to where Carol was staring at.
"Dr. Maya," She replied.
"Dr. Maya?" Tasha asked with her eyes popping out of her socket.
'Hope is not that useless, Maya,' Tasha thought.
"She is a very young and beautiful Doctor. You know her?" Carol asked, scared Tasha.
"No, no, it has been long since I was here. So, I guess I don't know her. Probably she is a new doctor," Tasha replied with worries written all over her face.
"Yeah, but I just hope that she will be assigned as Frank's personal doctor or nurse," Carol said.
"But Why?" Tasha asked as her heart started to beat faster. She was just hoping that, the Maya, Carol was talking about is not the same Maya that she hates and despise.
"She seems to be nice and patient with her patient, and According to what I have just told you. If Frank happens to be in the wheelchair forever. He needs someone as patient as that young Doctor," Carol explained.
"Mom, what are you talking about? Wheelchair?" Frank asked almost as a whisper as he opened his eyes slowly, trying to adjust to the brightness of the room.
That's when the two Gentlemen walked in too, Mr. Hepburn and Mr. Hawking.
