Chapter 759 - Chapter 758: A Flicker Before Death.

Charles was completely absorbed in the future footage, letting out a long sigh. "Two pitiful old men clinging to each other for warmth…"

Logan shot him a look. "You forgot about that albino."

Caliban had it rough too. After being captured, he endured brutal torture. Still, he held firm—at least until Zander Rice showed up in person and promised not to harm Logan or Charles. Only then did Caliban agree to help locate them.

But it was a trap. Through remote surveillance, Caliban watched helplessly as the clone X-24 murdered Charles. In a final act of defiance, he detonated two grenades, taking out the mercenaries guarding him—and himself.

Tragically, even in death, Caliban failed to kill Donald Pierce, the mercenary leader. His body was recovered by Zander Rice and used as material for further human experimentation.

At this point, the audience couldn't hold back their fury. Outraged curses were hurled at Zander Rice and his Alkali Research Institute.

Even from a human perspective, the cruel, cold-blooded experiments were hard to stomach—especially when the young mutant girl, Laura, appeared so pure, kind-hearted, and inexplicably endearing. It made viewers loathe Zander and his crew even more.

Though their earlier attempts to capture her had failed, Zander refused to give up. Now, they had more clues—they knew Laura was heading to the supposed mutant sanctuary known as Eden.

The scene shifted—Logan was still on the road but finally collapsed from exhaustion. Laura moved him to the passenger seat and took over the wheel. When he woke up, the car was parked at the foot of a steep cliff. Laura stood high above, waving down at him.

This, it turned out, was the "Eden" she spoke of. Other mutant children were there, too. They laid Logan on a makeshift wooden bed and hoisted him up the cliff.

Halfway up, Logan instinctively clutched the rope tighter—clearly, his fear of heights was something he'd never shaken.

At the top of the cliff was a simple camp. The mutant kids who'd escaped from the Alkali Institute had settled here, treating it as their Eden.

Before this, Eden had only existed as a fictional place in comics. But now, they were trying to turn fantasy into reality.

Logan was beyond exhausted. As soon as he arrived, he fell into a deep sleep—over thirty hours of rest. During that time, the kids injected him with a mutant enhancement serum.

The serum, smuggled out of the institute, could stimulate and temporarily boost mutant abilities.

Logan's injuries were severe, but the serum helped a bit. When he finally woke up, groggy and disoriented, he realized the kids had played a prank on him—shaving off half his beard. Strangely enough, the new look kind of worked.

During the day, Logan wandered the camp. The children were happy, full of hope—this was the Eden of their dreams. But Laura was the only one who wasn't smiling. She knew Logan was planning to leave.

Getting her here had been Logan's final mission. After that, he just wanted to find a bar, drink some whiskey, smoke a few cigars, and use that Adamantium bullet to end it all—put an end to this long, miserable life.

Laura didn't want that. She wanted him to stay—and so had Charles. The old man had hoped Logan would find the will to keep living in this new "Eden."

Laura never said it out loud, but her sulky attitude made it clear—she didn't want Logan to go. And Logan saw it. He knew.

As night fell, he snapped a little, yelling at her, "You got what you wanted. You're with your friends now. That's everything you hoped for! This is the best outcome! I don't do well with people—bad things happen to those I care about. You get what I'm saying, right?"

Logan had been through too much in his life. He was tired—tired of caring, tired of loss, tired of being hurt. Everyone he ever cared for had met a tragic end, and those repeating tragedies had eroded his heart. He was done.

Laura didn't argue. She simply said, "I'll be fine," and turned away.

Logan fell into another deep sleep. When he woke up, the camp was empty. On the bedside table sat a full vial of green enhancement serum and a note warning not to use it all at once.

Panicked, Logan ran outside. No sign of Laura or the others—but above, drones buzzed in the sky.

The enemy had found them.

Without hesitation, Logan grabbed the vial and gave chase. He still cared—this girl who had appeared out of nowhere had become his one remaining attachment. He couldn't just sit by and watch.

But his body was broken. He hadn't gotten far before he was stumbling, gasping, unable to stand.

He could faintly hear the voices of the children calling for help.

Without pause, Logan took the entire vial and injected it into his body.

The effect was immediate. Power surged through his weakened frame. For a brief, glorious moment, he felt like his old self again—like he'd gone back decades.

Charging through the forest with renewed strength, Logan finally caught up with the mercenaries, who had the children captive.

They opened fire—but it didn't matter. Logan charged headlong through the bullets like a beast unleashed, his claws slashing mercilessly, cutting through them like wheat before a scythe.

With a final leap, he drove both claws into a soldier's chest and let out a guttural, primal howl.

The Old Wolverine was back. The unkillable warrior had returned.

Logan tore through the mercenaries until he found Laura. Without a word, he threw himself into the fray again, fighting side by side with her. The two of them, a deadly duo, tore their enemies apart.

But once the battle ended, Logan's body began to falter. The surge of power was fading—it had only been an illusion, a final flicker before the end.

Laura realized it too. She looked at him in disbelief. "You used it all."

The enhancement serum had side effects, especially on a dying man like Logan. It had completely burned him out.

All he could do was save Laura. The other mutant kids were still captured. Zander Rice and Donald Pierce, along with the remaining mercenaries, had them in their grip.
