Chapter 760 - Chapter 759: Dying as a Father

When the drugged-up Logan let out a furious roar in the video, some viewers couldn't help but cry out with him, venting their own frustration and rage.

They desperately hoped the old Logan in the video would return to his prime and cut down all the villains like a hot knife through butter.

Unfortunately, the effects of the enhancement serum were short-lived. Logan only had enough strength to save Laura—every other mutant child was captured by the mercenaries.

By then, he'd already fallen back into his weakened, staggering state—perhaps even worse off than before, as the serum had drained what little strength he had left.

He hid with Laura in the bushes, watching from afar as Donald Pierce and his men guarded the mutant children. Logan told Laura to sneak in and rescue them, while he took advantage of the serum's fading effects to draw their attention.

With bloodied bullet wounds embedded in his body, Logan limped out of hiding. Donald Pierce, not wanting to take any risks, grabbed a mutant child as a hostage before stepping forward to confront him.

That was when Zander Rice appeared.

Perhaps confident that victory was in his grasp, Zander stepped out of the vehicle and said, "Mr. Howlett, allow me to introduce myself. I'm Zander Rice. I believe you knew my father... back during the Weapon X Program."

So it turned out—this Zander Rice, mastermind behind the mutant extermination project and the experiments at the Alkali Institute, had an old score to settle with Logan.

Years ago, Logan had been turned into a living test subject and underwent the adamantium bonding process. Zander's father had been one of the lead scientists on the experiment.

After the procedure succeeded, Logan went berserk and killed several of the researchers—including Zander's father.

No wonder this guy was here to gloat. While exchanging a few smug words with Donald Pierce, he casually revealed his plan to exterminate the mutants. With shameless arrogance, he even claimed he wasn't killing them, but rather "curing" them, aiming to further control their kind.

Many villains have this habit—once they think they've won, they can't help but monologue. They spill every detail of their grand plan, even their motivations and inner thoughts—often giving the hero a chance to turn the tables.

Zander was clearly following that exact script.

Still, even the viewers familiar with this trope weren't feeling optimistic about a comeback. Logan was already in that pitiful state—he could barely lift his claws. How could he take on a squad of mercenaries?

And if it all came down to Laura, she alone wouldn't stand a chance either. There just didn't seem to be a way out of this.

But just as Zander was smugly explaining his grand plans for mutant experimentation, a sudden gunshot rang out—his skull exploded, a bullet tearing straight through his head.

The shot came from Logan.

He put a bullet in Zander Rice and followed it with another, blasting off Donald Pierce's mechanical arm. Just like that—the tables turned.

It caught everyone off guard. Logan had always been known for charging headfirst into battle, claws slashing, his near-invincible body taking blow after blow. He was the weapon.

And for the most part, Logan had always been a brute. No one expected him to play dirty or pull a sneak attack.

It was precisely because of that reputation that both Donald and Zander were caught completely off guard—proving once again that villains talk too much for their own good.

Meanwhile, Laura used the chaos to strike the mercenaries guarding the children and managed to free them.

But the danger wasn't over yet. The mercenaries—or more specifically, Zander—had one last secret weapon: the clone, X-24.

Based on his last appearance, X-24 wasn't entirely controllable—there was a risk of him going berserk. That's probably why Zander hadn't unleashed him earlier.

But now that things had spiraled out of control, Donald Pierce had no such hesitation. He let X-24 loose.

The clone immediately locked eyes on Logan and charged—an all-out brawl broke out between the two.

At first, Logan held his ground thanks to experience. But X-24 was younger, stronger, faster. It didn't take long before Logan was knocked down. Laura jumped in to help, but her attacks weren't enough to take the clone down.

At that moment, Donald Pierce took a cheap shot. He fired a grappling hook that pierced Logan's leg—he'd used the same trick on Laura before.

Already barely holding on, Logan was now completely grounded. He couldn't even stand up.

Just as everything seemed to be unraveling, the rescued mutant kids arrived to help. Their powers were still immature, but combined, they overwhelmed Donald Pierce and killed him on the spot.

Then, another mutant child used his ability to levitate a heavy armored vehicle into the air—slamming it down directly onto X-24.

The children thought they'd won. But Logan knew better. He was X-24 once—he knew just how hard someone like that was to kill. A single armored vehicle wouldn't be enough.

Suddenly, X-24 burst out from under the wreckage. With a guttural snarl, he drove his claws into Logan's shoulder and began dragging him like a dead animal.

The other children scattered in terror, but Laura stood her ground. She picked up a revolver from the ground and loaded it with a single adamantium bullet.

Then came the final blow—X-24 impaled Logan onto a wooden stake, a jagged branch tearing through his chest and gut.

Still not satisfied, the clone raised his claws to continue the slaughter.

But from behind came a sharp gunshot.

Laura had pulled the trigger.

The adamantium bullet shot straight through X-24's skull, destroying half his head.

The monster was finally dead.

But Logan's time was up.

Laura rushed to his side and slashed through the wooden spike, trying to free him.

But his body had already been through too much. He was like a candle flickering in the wind—ready to go out.

With a weak, trembling voice, he whispered his final words:

"Laura… Laura… take your friends… run, far away… you don't need to fight anymore. Listen to me… don't become what they made you to be."

These kids—including Laura—had all been raised as living weapons.

Logan didn't want them to live for war. He wanted them to live for themselves.

But he would never get to see that day.

Even Laura—tough as nails, never flinching even when shot or stabbed—was now in tears, face streaked, sobbing like a normal little girl. She clutched Logan's fading hand and softly called him Daddy.
