Chapter 38 - Chapter 38

Jeffery's P.O.V

I had finished making all the necessary arrangements. This was going to be our first dinner together, and I wanted every detail to be perfect. The chef had neatly arranged the food just the way I requested. I wasn't sure if she liked roses, but I took the risk and had white ones placed delicately around the room. The lights were dimmed, and scented candles flickered gently, casting a warm glow that filled the space with soft intimacy. I'd even picked the best wine from her private cellar.

Everything was flawless.

And I… I looked good. Damn good. The black suit hugged my frame just right.

Don't worry, I'll explain later how I got a suit within an hour but first, something magical happened. I was facing the table, checking every final detail when a scent floated through the air honey and milk.

My entire body stilled.

That fragrance… God. That exact scent had always driven me crazy. And now, it was drifting all around me. At that moment, I knew she was the one. How did she even know I loved that scent? I closed my eyes and inhaled deeply, letting it consume me, imprinting the moment in my memory.

Daisy's P.O.V

As I made my way down the stairs, I immediately noticed something odd. The lights in the dining area were unusually dim.

Was there a power fluctuation or something? I thought, my brows furrowing. But as I walked closer, the sweet aroma of scented candles hit me, and I stopped in my tracks. Wait… what the heck was going on?

I turned toward the switch and adjusted the lighting. It was a regulated dimmer how fancy. The lights brightened softly, illuminating the scene before me. And that's when I saw him.

Jeff. Standing in a tailored black suit, eyes closed, his expression soft like he was lost in a dream. Wait a minute… is he inhaling my scent?

Then it hit me like a brick wall. The candles. The roses. The wine. This wasn't just any dinner. It was a date. A full-blown romantic dinner. And here I was… standing in pajamas, hair damp, looking like a total mess. Oh my God. Panic shot through me. I turned on my heel to escape back upstairs and change, but before I could take a full step—

He grabbed my hand.

"Where are you off to?" I asked, my voice low.

She froze. I… I… I—" she stuttered, cheeks burning. She finally found her voice. "I'm actually so sorry. I didn't know you planned all of this. Look at me my hair's wet, it's messy, and I'm in pajamas! I'm completely out of place. This is so embarrassing… I need to go and change."

I didn't say a word.

I just stared at her this beautiful, flustered girl standing in the soft glow of candlelight. Before she could finish her sentence, I closed the distance between us. And I kissed her. Soft, deep, and full of emotion. When I finally pulled away, I looked her straight in the eyes.

"You are perfect," I whispered. "Where have you been all this while? What took you so long to come into my life?"

She blushed furiously and looked away, unable to meet my gaze. "You don't need to change," I added gently. "You look beautiful. Honestly, this might just be the most romantic date outfit I've ever seen." She bit her lip, a shy smile breaking through. Then, with sudden curiosity, she asked, "Wait… how did you manage to get a suit?"

I chuckled.

"To cut a long story short, my clothes are in the guest room's closet." What??" she gasped, shocked. "Yeah," I smirked. "You need to understand something Leo and I basically share a brain. We think alike. Our thoughts are linked. That's how close we are."

I leaned in slightly, giving her a wicked smile.

"He's rude… but I'm worse."

She flinched, her body jerking slightly. "Whoa, whoa," I said quickly, laughing. "Come on now, no need to get scared. I was just teasing. Come let's eat."
