Chapter 25 - LUCIA!

Logan: Wait, you mean THE CHURCH?

Eugene: Yes.

Now drive like you mean it. It's time we get off this road.

Logan: Already?

Rose: [Already?]

What do you mean by already? Were you stalling?

Logan: Uhh, yes, you didn't know?

You didn't tell her?

Rose: Tell me what?

Eugene: Rose, there's a lot I'll fill you in on when we are safe. For now, we need to get off this road.

Now, Logan!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Collin: LUCIA!

I know you are here. Come out now.

Lucia!

Collin screamed his lungs out. He couldn't contain his anger.

He knew for sure that the ambush on Eugene was her doing. This was the last straw.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Two days ago he went on a mission to find out why his mother left, and the first place he went was the mansion. The one he had taken Rose to.

That mansion was once their home. It held beautiful memories of him, Lucia, and their mom and dad. If he had any chance at finding a clue, it had to be from there.

He went to the mansion alone. He wanted to take Logan along but decided against it. Even though Logan had promised to help, he still felt this was something he had to do on his own.

He got to the mansion, and that same eerie air surrounded it. The place felt dead. A great contrast to how it felt before.

Flashbacks of him and Lucia running around the garden giggling and laughing filled his mind.

Collin's Mom: Be careful, children.

Young Collin: Catch me if you can. Hahaha.

Young Lucia: Slow down, Collin.

Collin continued walking as he took in the memories that flooded his mind till he got to the door. He hesitated the same way he did when he stood that day with Rose.

The thing was, coming to the mansion wasn't a small feat for him.

Actually, he dreaded the thought of coming here. Despite the fact that he had the best memories here, it was also a constant reminder of how broken their family has been.

He had another reason for bringing Rose to the mansion that day. He wanted to find out if coming with Rose would take away that feeling. That feeling he couldn't describe.

Was it pain, anger, or guilt? He couldn't tell. But he didn't like it. Not one bit.

It felt different when he was there with Rose. Was it because he was distracted by Rose? Because as he stood there alone, he still felt it.

That feeling.

Collin: 'Sign'

He opened the door, and once again that heaviness within him lingered.

Collin: Okay, where do I begin?

He spoke with no one in particular.

He looked around, not knowing where to start, then his eyes locked on the staircase.

Collin: Lucia's room, I guess.

With that he climbed the stairs, heading for Lucia's room, which was located on the left after the stairs. It was the biggest room in the building.

Why? Well, because she was spoiled. One would think Lord Tobias would have the largest room in the mansion, but no. Lucia practically cried her eyes out to have that room handed to her. Despite being older than Collin, she was rather the one with the swollen head.

She got everything she wanted because Lord Tobias adored his daughter more than he did his son, or so they thought.

Collin had another flashback of the both of them at their father's office, with Lucia in tears, crying so hard that she almost fainted.

Collin was in awe. Because right after, when there was no one around, and after getting what she wanted, she'd return back to normal like she wasn't the same person that was bawling her eyes out some minutes ago.

Collin entered Lucia's room and stood at the door taking everything in.

The room was now messed up. It looked nothing like it did years back.

Not wasting a single second, Collin went to work.

He wasn't leaving the mansion until he had something, a clue, anything. He might as well spend the whole of his day searching. At least that was his plan.

Time passed as he went through one drawer after another, the walk-in closet, the bathroom, the shelves, and even under the bed, but still nothing.

Collin: Damn it!

Out of frustration, he decided to check out his father's room. He looked through every nook and cranny, but still nothing.

This went on for hours with him checking every room, including his and that of his mom. Still finding nothing, he started to doubt he'd ever find anything. Was this a waste of time? Did he have to accept and forget everything?

His eyes landed on a picture frame on his mom's desk. It was a picture of the four of them—him, Lucia, Lord Tobias, and his mom—which was taken on a day when they had gone for a vacation on an island.

He held the frame in hand with no motion on his face. Just then, his eyes fell on the matryoshka doll that Lucia held in the picture, and then it hit him.

Collin: Lucia!

If you don't come out in the next second, I'll...

Lucia: You'll what?
