Chapter 20 - Chapter 20: Making Money

"I know!"

Listening to the endless nagging, Gu Nian found herself missing her parents a bit.

In the past, her parents were always this nagging, which made her feel impatient.

But when she truly left her parents' embrace, only then did she realize how tough the world could be.

It was a sense of unease stemming from the heart.

Fortunately, she wasn't an only child; she still had an older brother at home, so her parents wouldn't be left entirely alone in their old age.

No matter what happened to her in modern times, she only hoped that her parents and brother wouldn't be too sad because of her absence.

She would also try her best, striving to live well in this world.

Gu Nian walked to the street corner, put her basket down by the side, and held a big peach in each of her small hands.

She was naturally petite, and her hands were small. The contrast made the peaches look even bigger.

"Little girl, how much for your peaches?" Some people found her endearing, and others saw that the peaches were indeed big and beautiful, so several people immediately came over to ask the price.

Gu Nian didn't sell by weight; she set the price directly at ten copper coins each.

Because she believed that the peaches produced from her space were different from ordinary wild fruit and worth the price.

Not to mention the taste and effectiveness, the size alone was more than double that of wild peaches.

However, those who came to ask the price were scared away by her directness.

"Selling peaches, selling peaches, big, red, sweet, and crunchy peaches, everyone come and take a look, the big, red Immortal Peaches..."

An innocent and clear voice continued to echo by the roadside.

Not far away, a luxurious yet low-key carriage was approaching.

Inside the carriage, the young man in black, resting with his eyes closed, slowly opened them. He raised his slender fingers and gently lifted the curtain of the carriage window to look toward the direction of that clear voice.

The little girl had two small buns on her head, her gray clothes fitted loosely on her, making her look even more thin and weak. She kept saying her selling lines, her cheeks dimpling into small dimples as she smiled, sweet enough to melt a person's heart.

Especially those big, glistening eyes, as if there was light twinkling inside.

"Stop." The boy's thin lips parted lightly, his handsome face revealing no hint of his mood.

"Princely Heir, what's the matter?" The coachman hastily stopped the carriage, while the accompanying guard asked cautiously.

The master in this carriage wasn't easy to serve.

Yet, no one dared to disregard him due to his status.

"The peaches over there look good, go buy some." Nan Jin Yu took a small ingot of silver from his sleeve and tossed it directly out, landing steadily in the guard's hand.

The guard was silent.

All along the journey, the Princely Heir had been exceedingly picky about food, clothing, and lodging, and had never spent even a single piece of silver himself.

Yet now, just for buying some peaches, the Princely Heir had actually taken out money!

With an anxious heart, the guard walked over to Gu Nian, directly handing over the silver. "Little girl, however many peaches you have, pack them all up for me."

Upon hearing these words, Gu Nian's eyes lit up instantly, but she looked at the silver with difficulty, "Big brother, but I can't make change for your silver. Do you have any loose copper coins?"

The guard, afraid of causing the Princely Heir's displeasure due to a delay, generously said, "No need to make change. Our young master is giving it to you as a reward, quickly pack up the peaches, don't make our master wait."

"Alright, thank you, big brother." Gu Nian happily quickly placed the peaches in her hands into the basket behind her. Taking advantage of her body's cover, she swiftly took out a dozen more peaches from her space and placed them inside.
