Chapter 19 - Chapter 19: Selling Goods

Gu Nian shook her head, "I don't really like eating candy. I just think he looks fun when he's making it. Dad, let's hurry and find a stall."

Lin Sanshui was unconcerned.

What child doesn't like candy?

This child is just too sensible, the more sensible she is, the more she breaks my heart.

Lin Sanshui took Gu Nian out of this street and arrived at another, even more crowded and busy market street, with agricultural products displayed on both sides, where meat, fish, and chickens were all being sold.

By this time, it was not early anymore. The better stalls had already been taken by others. Lin Sanshui could only find a spot near the corner, placed the rabbits aside, spread the grass that covered the basket on the ground, and then carefully set the peaches on it.

After Lin Sanshui arranged all the items properly, he sat there waiting for business to come.

The eggs and rabbits sold quickly; three out of six baskets were sold, but only two peaches were sold, and those were to customers who happened to also buy rabbits to take home and try, with the price set very low.

Gu Nian felt it was a bit of a loss.

These were peaches produced from the special space. Although they couldn't make one immortal, the taste was indeed excellent, making the whole body feel comfortable after eating, and even clearing the mind.

However, they were sold for just five coins for two, making her feel it would have been better to keep them for herself.

Watching the people passing by, most were rural folk, with a small number of servants from wealthy families out shopping.

"Dad, I want to go take a look at that street over there," Gu Nian pointed to the bustling street they just walked past.

Lin Sanshui looked at it and said, "Let's wait a bit, okay? It's still early. Let's see if I can sell the remaining baskets and straw sandals, and then I'll take you to have some fun."

Lin Sanshui was in a good mood, as just one four-and-a-half-pound rabbit along with two peaches sold for seventy-two coins, which was equivalent to the income from all the other things he brought combined.

As for the peaches, Lin Sanshui wasn't initially planning to sell them all.

They were indeed delicious and looked good, just like the peaches of immortality placed in front of the Queen Mother on the opera stage.

But at this time, wild fruits were not scarce in the mountains, and except for those with some extra money, very few people would indulge in buying them to eat.

"Dad, I won't go far. I'll just stand at the street corner with a few peaches to see if any wealthy people might buy them, okay?" She wasn't really a six-year-old child, she also wanted to play, but she understood the importance of making money even more.

Lin Sanshui was instantly moved.

He thought the child was restless from sitting here for too long, but it turned out she wanted to help shoulder the burden.

"Dear daughter, I know you're a sensible and good child, but let your dad handle the business of earning money. You just need to be a well-behaved and sensible little girl for dad."

Lin Sanshui, with a smile on his face, patted Gu Nian's little head, making Gu Nian feel a bit puzzled.

"Dad, I want to go; please let me. I promise I won't go far, really, just at the street corner there." Gu Nian blinked her big eyes, knowing that Lin Sanshui couldn't resist her pouting.

Sure enough, Lin Sanshui eventually succumbed to her coaxing tactic.

All the items from the basket had already been laid out on the ground. Gu Nian picked up four or five peaches and put them back into the basket and then carried the basket, almost as tall as she was, and walked off.

Lin Sanshui, uneasy, reminded her from behind, "Daughter, slow down, remember, don't go too far. After I sell these baskets, I'll come to find you. If you get bored alone, just come back by yourself..."
