Archer gasped at his own words. What did he mean by people who love her? He didn't love her. He was not in love with her. He just cared for her. That was something his training trained him for: caring for everyone, saving everyone, and he did just that. He made sure that she was not hurt and saved her, not because he was in love with her, but because it was his duty to serve and protect.
He scoffed at his thought process. Who was he kidding? The way his heart jumped out of his chest after seeing that she was about to jump made him realise that slowly she was becoming something to him that he never even dreamed about. He never thought he could like a woman or be impressed with her, but she was proving him wrong. Maybe she was swaying his heart.
