Chapter 12 - Chapter 12: Burger Eating Contest

Jin dragged his feet down the street, stomach growling, face pale.

He had a system, a second life, and a shot at the top… yet here he was, broke and starving.

"What's the point of running fast if I can't even eat?" he grumbled. Then his eyes lit up. "Wait! The reward!"

Earlier, he'd got a "chance encounter" for completing the quick attack task with Hinata and Kageyama. He rushed to the system screen and used it.

"Chance Encounter. Target: Yukie Shirafuku. Distance: 300 meters, to the right."

So close! Though he had never heard of 'Yukie Shirafuku' in Haikyuu!!, the only thing on his mind now was food.

He sprinted down the road and soon spotted a crowd outside a burger shop. Curious, he squeezed inside.

A banner read, "Couples' Burger Eating Contest!"

At one of the tables sat a girl with reddish brown hair and matching colored big eyes, stuffing burgers into her mouth. She matched the system's description perfectly.

Jin froze. 'Wait… that's Yukie I remember the 'foodie' manager from Fukurodani!'

She had five burgers left while the other teams were nearly done. Her pace slowed, hiccups escaping. Clearly, she couldn't finish alone.

Jin's hunger made the decision for him. He rushed forward, plopped into the empty seat beside her, and grabbed a burger.

"I'll help!" he said, biting into it.

Yukie blinked, stunned, then her eyes shined with relief.

A staff member ran over. "Hey! You can't just jump in. Only couples-"

Before he could finish, Yukie wiped her lips, leaned over, and kissed Jin on the cheek.

"He's my boyfriend," she said sweetly. "This 'is' a couples contest, right?"

Jin nearly choked on the burger.

"Be my boyfriend for a few minutes." she whispered, clinging to his arm. "Come on, if we win we'll share 50-50."

50-50, food, and a cute girl? Jin grinned. "Deal."

The two tore through the burgers. Jin devoured his share like a beast, finishing the last one in three huge bites.

"We're done!" Yukie jumped up, waving to the owner. "We're first place!"

The shop staff confirmed it and handed over the prize: a food voucher worth 100,000 yen.

Jin immediately stretched out his hand for his share.

But Yukie pulled back, lowering her voice. "Idiot, not here. Too many eyes watching. Let's go somewhere private. I'll share with you properly."

She winked playfully.

Jin's heart skipped. Up close, her smile was dazzling.

'Somewhere private, huh? Maybe we'll split more than just food…'
