Chapter 13 - Chapter 13

Yukie dragged Jin down a backstreet, running like nothing even though she had just eaten a mountain of burgers.

'Is her stomach made of iron?' Jin thought, keep up with her but excited about what might happen next.

When they finally stopped on a quiet path with no one around, Yukie let out a relieved sigh.

It was dark, no one else in sight. Jin's brain immediately ran wild.

"Uh… should we…?" Jin rubbed his hands nervously, looking at her with a hopeful grin.

Yukie gave him a sly smile. "That's right, let's…"

Jin's heart pounded. 'First time, in another world, on the street…' He braced himself.

But Yukie just slipped the big food voucher into her pocket, put her hands on her hips, and glared.

"Wipe that drool. Did you really think I'm that easy?"

Jin froze. "Wait… huh?"

"This is the reward."

She pulled out two tiny coupons, only worth a few thousand yen each, and handed them over. The large prize stayed safely in her pocket.

"Huh?! That's it?!" Jin's jaw dropped. He had thought she brought him here for something else, but she only wanted to split the spoils… unfairly.

"Too little? If you don't want it, I'll take them back!" Yukie said firmly, clutching her pocket.

Jin groaned. "You said 50-50! This isn't half, this is scraps!"

"I earned it, didn't I? You just jumped in at the end. Be grateful!"

Jin narrowed his eyes. "Fine, but I don't work for free. If you want me to accept this, I'll need… interest."

He leaned closer with a teasing grin.

But Yukie wasn't fazed. She pointed behind him. "Look."

Jin turned, and saw flashing police car lights nearby.

"You planned this?!" Jin's face twisted.

"Of course. Do you think you can rob 'me'? No chance!" Yukie hugged her pocket protectively, her eyes gleaming.

Jin groaned, clutching his head. "I didn't expect you to be such a foodie and still sinister. You'd fight to the death for a burger voucher."

Yukie instantly switched into fake tears. "Don't say that… my life is so hard… I'm destined to wander alone… searching for food…"

Her pitiful look stabbed Jin straight in the chest. He couldn't even stay mad. Grumbling, he stuffed the two small coupons into his pocket.

"Fine. But next time I catch you, you're done for!" he growled, storming off.

Yukie stuck out her tongue. "Like you'll ever catch me!"

Jin didn't turn back, but his voice echoed coldly, almost ghost-like.

"Manager of Fukurodani Volleyball Club… don't think I can't find you. Be careful."

Yukie froze. Then her eyes went wide.

"Nani?! How does he know who I am?! Is he that some kind of creepy uncle?!"
