[Chapter Size: 2200 Words.]
Konoha, 44.
...
...
Kakashi remained trapped until the giant hand fell apart, causing him to drop into a pile of sand. The gray-haired boy stared at Obito speechlessly after landing in the middle of the crumbled sand from the hand.
A round of applause echoed through the area as Obito turned his gaze to the side, followed by Rin and Kakashi, who were already recovering from the shock.
The Uzumaki girls, Towa, Akane, and Runa, approached after witnessing the end of the battle, even though it hadn't lasted very long anyway.
"Very well done, Obito!" one of the girls, Towa, said, someone Obito knew very well.
He couldn't help but smile and nod. "Thanks... I guess," he replied before turning his attention back to Kakashi.
"It was a great fight, Kakashi. But even so, I still came out on top," he said.
Kakashi continued staring at him. "How did you do that? Your eyes... What happened to your eyes?" he asked.
Obviously, he still had no idea what had happened over the past few months. All he knew was that Obito had been undergoing special training under the direct supervision of Minato Namikaze.
Obito was no longer displaying his Sharingan, but even so, he pointed at his own eyes. "I developed new eyes. That's why Sensei was training me," he said, no longer having any reason to hide it.
Kakashi kept staring at Obito for a while. There was a certain discomfort in his gaze, perhaps even jealousy, something that caught Obito by surprise. He hadn't expected that reaction from the gray-haired boy.
"Anyway, it was a good fight, Kakashi. I hope you still manage to develop everything you're supposed to learn from Sensei during this time. It'd be kind of boring if I ended up being much stronger than you now and in the future," Obito said.
Kakashi merely snorted. "You've already become arrogant just because you won one fight?" he asked angrily.
Obito shrugged, not failing to display the same kind of attitude Kakashi always showed toward him.
In any case, Obito also looked at Kakashi with a certain admiration. He had learned several taijutsu techniques from Sensei, probably from Guy as well, since the boy trained the techniques Minato had taught to his father, Duy. Sensei had likely been teaching Kakashi during these past few months as well, and Kakashi's new jutsu also demonstrated his growth.
Obito couldn't let himself become too complacent. Although he had dealt with Kakashi easily, Kakashi had certainly learned a little from Obito's abilities during this fight and would, in a way, be trying to find ways around them in their future battles.
Obito looked to the side when he noticed someone approaching. It was Towa, and the red-haired girl flashed him a smile.
"Hey! Since you just fought, fight me too! I want to warm up a little before the real training..." she said, while Naruto and Yamato were still sparring in taijutsu in the distance.
"Alright." Obito smiled warmly as Kakashi left the battlefield, glancing at him out of the corner of his eye.
As the other red-haired girls joined Kakashi and Rin, Rin remained standing still, watching Obito from the side with a surprised look after seeing him defeat Kakashi, but also somewhat hurt as she watched Obito wear an amused smile for that Uzumaki girl.
A smile he hadn't even given her, aside from the usual greeting he would offer anyone.
''What happened to you, Obito?'' she couldn't help but murmur in her heart.
Although she was surprised that Obito really was stronger than Kakashi at that moment, something she had already begun to notice, what impacted her the most was his attitude toward her.
She barely had time to blink when the fight began. The Uzumaki girl immediately unleashed Adamantine Chains, which rapidly emerged from her back as she charged forward.
Obito began dodging them one after another with incredible speed. He had barely escaped the first few when he was startled to see even more chains emerging from the ground.
Even Kakashi was impressed by that. He knew the Uzumaki were powerful, and in the fight they had, he hadn't won by much. They were already proficient in fūinjutsu, their bodies were naturally powerful, and the amount of chakra they possessed was absurd, reaching three or four times Kakashi's. That alone was troublesome to deal with, even more so when combined with their water jutsu, which were extremely powerful, far superior to anything Kakashi was capable of using. On top of all that, the Chains' Kekkei Genkai was a major nuisance.
It had been over a month since Kakashi and Rin had fought them. He was certainly surprised to realize that the speed at which they controlled the chains was much faster than it used to be.
Obito failed to dodge one of them, and it immediately wrapped around his leg. Suddenly, however, he looked at it with his left eye, which transformed into a Mangekyō Sharingan, and a vortex of energy enveloped the chain, causing it to twist and distort until it snapped apart, freeing his leg after breaking the chain.
"You broke it!" she said in surprise. At the same time, she watched the chain vanish into particles around Obito's leg.
Even after losing the chain, Towa acted without forming any hand seals, firing several water bullets from her mouth.
Obito had to open another vortex with his left eye once again, and all the water began to be sucked into it.
"My jutsu!" the girl exclaimed in surprise, just as he had already absorbed Kakashi's jutsu. Obito had simply absorbed the Uzumaki girl's technique.
"Where did you send it?" she asked curiously before continuing her advance with her chains, which remained suspended in the air. There were at least six of them.
"Nowhere in particular... but I can do this." Obito wore a mischievous smile as he activated his right eye once more. A vortex quickly appeared.
Those water bullets began emerging from the vortex, swirling through the air before bursting into the battlefield, charging straight toward the Uzumaki girl, who was caught by surprise. She quickly used her own chains to strike the water bullets, protecting herself almost as if she had created a nearly perfect shield after pulling back the chains that had been chasing Obito and drawing out several more from her back.
When she lowered her defense, she looked at Obito with a smile full of interest. "You're full of interesting tricks, Obito-kun. Then let's keep going!"
She immediately charged forward, and the two resumed fighting. While Obito dodged the chains that continued pursuing him, he quickly closed the distance with a kunai in hand.
The girl also drew hers at incredible speed, and the two blades clashed. Right afterward, she had to retreat immediately as several chains attempted to attack Obito's flank.
"You're so troublesome... Do I really have to leave myself open like this...?" Obito muttered, still without activating his intangible form.
She simply displayed a satisfied smile at his remark. "We're only getting started, Obito-kun!" she said immediately.
Right after that, she began forming several hand seals. Obito also prepared his jutsu while using his Mangekyō to further increase the technique's power.
In the next instant, he unleashed flames that spun like a hurricane through his eye before surging forward, while Towa released a powerful water jutsu. Both attacks collided immediately, triggering a massive explosion. She hadn't held back any chakra in her technique either.
The explosion was so intense that it caught Naruto and Yamato's attention, causing them to stop their own sparring match in the distance as they watched the gigantic blast of flames in surprise.
A massive cloud of steam engulfed the battlefield, expanding until it completely concealed both the fire and the water. Then, suddenly, everyone saw the flames pushing forward even against the torrent of water, catching the Uzumaki girl off guard.
Before Obito could close in on her, everyone watched the two engage in close combat. Obito was just about to throw a punch, but he hesitated.
The girl immediately narrowed her eyes. "Hey! What do you think you're doing? Do you think I'm some old lady who'll break from one punch? Obito-kun, fight me seriously!"
She was clearly offended before throwing a punch straight into his face while he hesitated to hit her, sending him flying back several meters.
She looked genuinely furious at that moment. Her chains emerged behind her once more as the battlefield gradually cleared of the clouds of steam.
"Obito-kun!" she said, crossing her arms. "You're going to go easy on me? Then you shouldn't even fight! Do you really think I'm that weak?"
She looked completely indignant. Obito stared at her awkwardly for a moment.
"Sorry... I just didn't think I'd hurt you," he replied sheepishly.
She merely relaxed her expression and smiled. "I don't like you seeing me as some flower that could break, and don't worry, Obito. We Uzumaki know how to recover our bodies on the battlefield," she said at last.
Then Towa picked up a kunai and cut her own hand. Blood began to flow, but at the same time, the wound started healing in real time.
"Not everyone can do this, but I'm a special case. So you can fight me seriously without worrying about hurting me. After all, this fight isn't serving any purpose other than preparing us for the people who will actually try to kill us out there, don't you think?"
Obito looked at her for a few moments before nodding, understanding her point. He certainly could understand that now. "Alright. I apologize," he said, his expression becoming more serious.
The two of them returned to their stances, preparing to continue the fight.
Nearby, the other two Uzumaki girls, Kakashi, and Rin watched the battle. This fight seemed far more exciting than the one between Kakashi and Obito.
Meanwhile, Minato approached them together with Hanabi and Kushina. Mikoto had gone to the ANBU organization, while Tsuna was taking care of the children at the house, putting them to sleep in a special room that prevented the sounds of the battles from the training grounds from disturbing them.
"Sensei!" the four children said in unison to the three who had arrived. Even though Kushina wasn't an official teacher, she still taught all of them whenever she could while assisting Minato and Hanabi.
"So that's your current best student?" Minato asked his wife beside him.
Hanabi nodded. "Yes, and your boy seems to have quite a few tricks now, huh?"
"They're amazing!" Kushina couldn't take her eyes off them, her eyes shining with excitement.
"But even so... Obito is still stronger. Can you tell? You can see just how much he's grown," Minato teased.
"Towa isn't weak either. Let's see how she handles this," Kushina replied.
The children remained silent, surprised by the adults' conversation, as they turned their attention back to Obito and Towa Uzumaki, who quickly resumed their fight.
What had already seemed intense soon turned into complete chaos.
Obito finally began using his Mangekyō Sharingan. The two of them were forbidden from using the Kyūbi's chakra reserves. They could only rely on it in life-or-death situations, so they had to fight using only their own chakra and abilities.
Even so, the training was already astonishing.
The Uzumaki girl naturally possessed an enormous amount of chakra. Obito, on the other hand, had acquired a tremendous reserve after awakening the Mangekyō Sharingan and, above all, after successfully implanting Mokuton cells directly into his body.
Obito's chakra reserves were at least twice as large as the Uzumaki girl's, something absurd considering she already possessed far more chakra than a jōnin should have.
Explosions echoed across the battlefield as the two exchanged numerous jutsu. Obito countered with fire techniques and used kunai to deflect the chains.
Obito was no longer holding back. He was fighting seriously. Even so, she still managed to create a few openings to attack. On several occasions, Obito had to rely on his intangible body to avoid her strikes.
Unlike him, however, the girl began automatically regenerating the various cuts and wounds scattered across her body. It wasn't a healing ability capable of regenerating tissue or recovering from anything more serious than scratches, but it still put Obito in a rather difficult situation.
Even with the disadvantage, she smiled. "We're not getting anywhere like this, Obito-kun, especially when I can tell you're still holding back..."
Obito began forming several hand seals, realizing he had no other choice. In the next instant, countless roots began sprouting from the ground.
"That's...!" Rin cried out, completely stunned as she watched the roots take on humanoid forms before transforming into several Obitos.
"Wood Clones... Looks like she's going to have trouble," Hanabi murmured.
She knew very well that a Wood Clone could be far more troublesome than any other type of clone. She had fought Tsunade enough times to understand that.
"Since when can Obito use Wood Style?" Kakashi nearly choked.
Obito hadn't even taken the fight seriously until that moment. He had only been using his Mangekyō Sharingan, but he was still holding back the full extent of his abilities.
"He just learned a few tricks," Minato replied with a small smile.
