Chapter 378 - Book 13: Part 31 – Ace’s Wrath

Aiden, Orloff, and August didn't say anything further on the matter; they simply left on their own.

At their level, despite having to travel billions upon billions of miles through chaotic space, the trio were able to arrive in under a second. Still, although they were able to hide their presence in the Yulan Plane – when not condensing Bluefire's Overgod Body – that was only because Aiden had refined it and transformed it into his personal domain. Still, when they stepped out of the Yulan Plane, the other Overgods were able to lock on to them immediately.

Because of that, the moment Aiden and the others arrived at the location, the Overgod of Life was condensing her body; their enemies were ready. Even the Overgods of Destruction, Fate, and Death sent an energy projection.

The Overgod of Destruction opened his mouth to ask what Aiden and the others were trying to do, but before he could get his words out, Bluefire casually raised a hand. It was an exceedingly casual action, but the effects were anything but casual. In an instant, that whole quadrant of the universe erupted in the most terrifying blue flames – flames so hot that even chaotic space was being twisted and distorted by the heat.

Still, as terrifying of an attack as it was, it was casually dealt with by the Overgod of Destruction, whose cold snort caused the flames to dissipate in an instant as though they were never there.

As the flames dissipated, Aiden's eyes lit up with excitement as his glaive flew into his hands. In their last fight, the Overgods of the Four Edicts hadn't dared to show up with their true bodies, but this time, with Orloff and Aiden to fight alongside him, they didn't dare to hold back. They knew full well that unless they went all out, Aiden and the others would definitely kill the Overgod of Life, and since she hadn't finished condensing her Overgod Body yet, she wasn't able to revive herself using the power of faith.

The Overgod of Fate was a little upset that none of them had managed to finish condensing their Overgod bodies yet. Even so, their pseudo-Overgod bodies would still allow them to exert far more power than what they were capable of by merely using their energy clone forms.

Without another word, the battle of the Overgods began, and by the looks of it, no one had any intentions of holding back. Fortunately, even though they were distinctively outnumbered, they were still able to fight their enemies to a standstill – a fact that shocked no one more than Aiden himself.

With his most recent breakthroughs, he assumed that even if he were to face the pseudo-bodies of all four Edict-based Overgods at once, he'd be able to hold a small advantage and suppress them. Instead, only facing the Overgods of Death, Destruction, and Fate, he could only fight them to a standstill.

The only good thing was that, as their Overgod bodies weren't fully condensed, the more they fought, the more the energy reserves stored in their body were being depleted. Although with time, they would be able to restore it, considering how their enemies were getting stronger by the day, that was time they unfortunately didn't have. Still, in a situation like this, there was nothing they could do about it; Aiden wasn't an opponent they could afford to look down on.

As for the Overgod of Life, she and Phueus were working together to fight against Bluefire, leaving the spirits of the Overgods of Water, Earth, and Lightning to take on Orloff.

Even though they hadn't had the time to begin condensing their Overgod bodies and were therefore only slightly more powerful than an energy body, the fact that he had to take on all three at once was proving to be a little too much for Orloff, as he also hadn't begun condensing his Overgod body. If not for the fact that he had significantly more Willpower to tap into than his opponents, he might already have been killed.

Still, it wasn't looking too good for him. It was then, though, that the Spirit of Water made a choice that caught him by surprise. Despite having a clear advantage, the Overgod of Water suddenly made a move to escape.

Still, as surprised as he was, it only took him a fraction of a second to figure out what they were planning. In fact, it wasn't only Orloff; both Aiden and Bluefire were able to guess what the Overgod of Water was intending to do.

With Aiden, Bluefire, and Orloff all present at the same time, there wasn't an Overgod back on the Yulan Plane to protect Ace and the others. Unfortunately, as much as they wanted to block the path of the Spirit of Water, they were too caught up with their current opponents.

Back on the Yulan Plane, after Aiden and the others left, Ace remained firmly in place. His face was emotionless as he stared off absentmindedly into space. What was going through his mind, only he knew.

It had been several hours already, and they knew the battle between the Overgods that may well determine all of their fate was well underway. Still, Ace remained motionless.

It was only when Amira once again appeared by his side, silently sliding her palm in his, that he awoke from his daydream.

He was just about to open his mouth when the hairs on the back of his neck stood up, as he was suddenly overwhelmed by the threat of death.

Without a second thought, he summoned his Divine Ability and coated his entire body in haki, preparing for what he instinctively knew had to be the attack of an Overgod. With one hand, he took his glaive out, and with the other, he pulled his wife behind him, but before he could finish his action, a giant azure-coloured palm descended from the sky.

Ace barely managed to shield his wife to his back when they were both sent flying. Thankfully, he acted as quickly as he had as he had managed to take the brunt of the attack. Even so, the attack of an Overgod was nothing to scoff at.

As soon as he crashed into the ground, Ace's first instinct was to check to make sure Amira was fine. Although he took the brunt of the attack, Amira was significantly weaker than him. Thankfully, she appeared to be in good condition, but what confused him was her dazed and slightly panicked expression as she clutched her stomach.

The first words to come out of Amira's mouth were, "Our child, I can't feel our child…"

Ace was left in a state of extreme shock when he heard that – he had no idea that Amira was even pregnant! Especially as it was just a few hours ago that Amira was going all out sparring against him to help him with his training.

He knew his wife better than anyone; as such, he knew that if she had known, there was no chance that she would've done anything to risk their unborn child's life. Even though they were only sparring and would never let it get so far as to genuinely put their lives at risk, she still wouldn't risk overexerting herself.

It was then that, via their bond, Ace was able to tell what happened. Like most nights, they were alone together; the night before, they had consummated their love, but because of how difficult it was for them, she was used to bad news. As a result, she didn't even bother to confirm; she merely carried on with her day.

It was only after Aiden and the others left, whilst Ace was staring off into space in a daze, that she felt something off with her body. As a deity, she was more than capable of performing an extremely thorough, in-depth check of her condition. In doing so, she felt it – the unborn child of her and the only man she had ever loved.

She immediately ran out to tell him, but that was when they were attacked by the Overgod.

It may have taken time to explain the sequence of events, but by using their bond as soulmates, Ace was able to see everything in detail almost instantaneously.

The Overgod of Water was just about to speak when they felt a feeling of fear envelope every fibre of their being.

Ace's emotionless eyes fell on the Overgod as the most terrifying killing intent erupted out of him. A killing intent so potent that even the fabric of space in the True Yang realm warped beneath its weight.

It was right then that Millianna arrived and took her daughter-in-law in her arms.

She had been close enough to overhear Amira's panicked words, and without a second thought, not caring that her actions could gain the ire of the Overgod, she shot to Amira's position and summoned her Divine Ability before using her full power to enhance her divine power as she cast the most powerful healing spell possible.

She gave her son one more look before telling him not to worry; she wouldn't let any harm to her grandchild.

Ordinarily, Ace would've thanked her for acting so quickly, but he was too focused on the Overgod of Water that not only attacked his wife but also may have killed his child.

Ace had felt fury many times before, but the anger he felt at that moment was like nothing he had ever felt before.

Under the stimulation of his anger, Ace finally managed to comprehend his fourth True Yang Concept, but even as the natural laws descended around him, he couldn't seem to feel it. The only thing on his mind was the Overgod of Water and ripping them limb from limb.

As the natural laws dissipated, Ace's face warped into one of pure, unadulterated wrath as he roared, "I WILL KILL YOU!"
