CHAPTER 3
It seemed his best friend Chimali was quite dedicated. From his memories, Chimali was quite loyal and supportive, sticking with Yaotl despite his reputation as a waste, Jun Xie swore to give back the same dedication and loyalty for this unwavering friendship.
Just as he was thinking this, the door opened abruptly. A mini mountain walked in, at least, that's the feeling Jun Xie got from the newcomer. His energy felt heavy and steady, he looked and felt like a reliable person. However that perception was quickly shattered when said mini mountain burst into uncontrollable tears, Jun Xie could only watch in shock as he threw himself at him (JX) and sobbed.
"Wuwuwu, it's my fault. I should have protected you better, wuwuwu..." Out of options, Jun Xie could only try his best to hug and console him, "It's okay, I'm sure you did your best."
He was almost certain this was Yaotl's best friend Chimali.
After expressing his deep sorrow and covering Jun Xie's top half in tears and snot, the mini mountain could now talk properly.
"Ah, I heard that you lost your memories, I'm Chimali. We've been best-friends for years and we used to bathe together and wear the same trousers!" Jun Xie absolutely did not need to hear the last part, but he did wonder if they ate different things. How come this fellow was so large?
"Why are you so... big?" Jun Xie asked carefully.
Chimali seemed confused for a moment then said, "I'm an Earth Warrior and most Earth Warriors practice defensive skills hence why we grow so big."
As they were talking, Chicahua walked back in holding a black box that looked like a jewelry chest.
"Oh Chimali you're here! I'll notify the kitchen to include your lunch. Yaotl, this is what we will use to test your elemental aptitude. You were never tested before because you weren't interested in being a mage."
Jun Xie stared at the box curiously, he wondered how this aptitude test was supposed to be carried out with a black box that had no visible opening.
Chicahua tapped three times on the box and it seemed to just recede away, leaving a white globe on a black stand. He explained that Jun Xie would have to put his hand on the globe and the globe will scan him for elements. Any element detected would produce a wick above the globe.
There would be a ring around the wick and the color of that ring determined the talent of that element. A bronze ring is a low level talent, the person can only reach junior apprentice at mast or junior warrior if they wish to be an elemental warrior. A silver ring is a common level and the person can reach junior master or master at most. A gold ring is a rare level and the person can reach up to grand master or sage at best. Lastly is a platinum ring of epic level and the person can reach saint level, the highest level recorded so far. Jun Xie wasn't interested in high levels, he just wanted to have enough power to travel the world and meet handsome men. Therefore he was pretty calm as he reached his hand towards the globe. The first wick was a chocolate brown with a gold ring, the second wick was a deep purple with a gold ring, and the third wick was a warm orange with a gold ring, the fourth wick was a bright blue with a silver ring, the fifth wick was a leafy green with a silver ring, the sixth wick was a dark gold with a silver ring, the seventh wick was a deep red with a silver ring and the eighth wick was an icy blue with a silver ring.
Chicahua and Chimali could only stare dumbfounded at the white globe with the brilliant balls of colourful light around it. Jun Xie was equally as surprised, from Yaotl's memories - which he had only glimpsed briefly - most people had one to three elements. He had all eight with 3 rare levels and 5 common levels: the brown was for Earth, purple for Lightning, orange for wind, bright blue for water, green for wood, dark gold for metal, red for fire and icy blue for ice. According to System 003, Yaotl did have all eight elements before, but it was 3 common levels and 5 low levels. He had chosen the warrior path because he wanted to be as strong as his father, Jun Xie would certainly help him with that desire, but he also wanted to be a mage - spells sounded cool and he'd always been a big fan of Harry Potter.
Chicahua gathered his wits and smiled proudly as he held Jun Xie's hand, "Haha! This Lord's son is a wonderful talent! Son, whatever spells you want to learn, just tell your father! I'll buy them all for you! I'll have someone build a private library for you today, fill it up with everything you want!" Jun Xie could practically see the stars in his father's eyes, but with this promise he wouldn't have to worry about lacking resources. As they were conversing, a knock was heard at the door & the knocker was granted entrance. It was Xitllali who was pushing a cart, there were a couple of dishes and two leather bound books on it. She bowed to Chicahua, nodded to Chimali and addressed Jun Xie, "Young Master, I've brought yours and Chimali's food as well as the books you have requested."
In Jun Xie's head he was already rubbing his hands together with a perverted smile on his face, wakakaka... he could finally start powering up! His father left him
and Chimali to their lunch. As the dishes were unveiled, there were big piles of meat, soup and some steamed veggies. Jun Xie was dumbfunded! Why was there
so much meat? And what kind of meat was this? It was red with purple streaks! As if reading his mind, Xitllali said, "Young master, Chimali eats enough for three soldiers and this meat is a tier 3 thunder beast. If it was a lesser tier, even more meat would have been served."
Her lips twitched at the last sentence. 'Hell, that certainly explains why he was so large! How much did his family spend to raise him to be this big? Damn!' Xitllali hid a chuckle at her young master's expressions. She was actually glad about his memory loss. He was so gloomy and taciturn before because of his lack of warrior talent. Now that he doesn't remember all of that, his mood was much brighter! She couldn't wait to see what other changes were brought by her young master's amnesia.
