"Again!!" I cried out to my parents in the living room. My name is Amara and I'm the only child of my parents. You might be wondering why I am crying out but it's because this is the fifth time we are moving to a different state within the same year.
" I know it's hard dear but you have to understand us . Your dad has finally secured a well paying job and we can't afford to miss it" My mom replied
"Really mom! But I thought dad was okay with his job here" I replied.
"I thought I was okay but the job being offered at Morroco is great I will be earning 200, 000 dollars a month honey ! we are going to be rich!" he exclaimed.
"Fine what about my school I'm in my senior year in high school and I cannot to be a new student again in another school geez!"
"You will be fine my dear " mom said trying to put my mind at ease .
"I don't have a say right!" I exclaimed and rushed to my room.
My family and I moved to the new city a week later . It was a nice city as it had beautiful scenery. "I might be enjoying it here" I thought peeping through the car's window. Few people caught my attention and food as well that's very necessary. We arrived at our new house which was no where near a mansion but was suitable for my taste.
"I get to choose my room this time?" I asked staring at my mom
"Okay dear since it has been hard for you " she smiled at me. Mom adored me since I was her only child and it wasn't like she planned on having only me . The case is she has been trying to conceive but she kept on having miscarriages.
I unlocked the main gate and glanced through the living room. "Nice taste!" I thought and headed to check the bedrooms.
I chose one of the rooms which was far away from my parents I didn't want them bothering me and also because the window opened to a beautiful scenery.
The size of my room was to my preference and the paint was okay even though I planned on changing it .
"Do you like your room?" Mom asked as I was peeping through the window.
"yeah it's cool " I replied staring at the window of the next house which was opposite mine.
"Do you think someone lives there?" I asked my mom since the lights of the next house were off.
"Maybe ! we can check tomorrow" she replied.
"I don't want to do that" I replied
"But you know it's cool to be familiar with your neighbours"
"I know Mom I just don't want to feel that we've settled for good , knowing you and dad can move me any moment and any time you please" I replied , walking into the bathroom. The bathroom was more spacious than my previous one but it needed a little furnishing.
Mom left me to her room and I continued to examine my room. The place was already cleaned up so all I needed to do was arrange my stuffs. I unzipped my suitcase and arranged my clothes in my closet. I took out my airpods and listened to music on my phone. I sang along as I arranged my stuffs.
I finished setting up my room but it was too plain for me..there were no flowers nor lights and that was making me sick. I was about to hang my curtains when I saw the light of the opposite window of the next house go on.. A tall silhouette of a guy caught my attention. I could tell he was shirtless since I could see the pattern of his abs and muscles. I didn't have a good look before the lights went back off. Now I was sure I had a next door neighbor.
"Where are you going? " mom asked when I was descending the stairs. She was in the kitchen baking some cookies and brownies.
"Can I get the car keys ..I'm rushing to the nearby supermarket to buy some interior decors" I replied.
"We just got here sweetheart..you don't even know your way around" mom replied.
"Google maps!" I smiled and winked at her.
"Alright dear but becareful !" she cautioned.
"I will my pineapple! " I smiled and grabbed the car keys.
The drive to the nearby supermarket was fun . I played music and sang along as I drove besides the city was so beautiful to not enjoy a ride. I was beginning to like it here . I smiled and got out of my car.
The supermarket was big and very busy . I smiled at few passerbys and went to look for what I needed. I pushed my troller as I glanced through my list. I bought a 3D butterfly wall decor and some lights. I bought a toilet seat covering and sheets. I also bought aromatics and an alarm clock since my old one was spoilt. A very nice teddy bear caught my attention and I fell in love with it .
"Wanna come with me ?" I smiled at it and grabbed it. I went through my list again and checked my trolley. Everything was intact . I pushed it back to the cashier to settle my bill.
"100 dollars" she said and I handed her my credit card.
"The money on your credit card isn't sufficient miss" she said staring at me .
"Really!" I said , starting to feel uncomfortable as people who wanted to settle their bills were behind me.
"One second" I said anxiously and opened my purse. " This is so embarrassing" I cursed.
"How much should I add in addition?" I asked
"20 dollars" she replied .
"OMG.. this is so bad " I said realizing I only have 5 dollars in my purse.
"can you please calculate my bill for me" One guy said and placed his item on the table. It was just a bottle of wine. I glared at him ignoring his nice features. "50 dollars " the cashier said . " He handed him a 100 dollar note. " Take 20 dollars to settle her bill" he said not looking at me . "Okay " the cashier replied staring at me. He grabbed his wine and walked out not waiting for me to at least thank him.
"Really! how proud he was!" I thought feeling embarrassed and angry at the same time.
"That's your items" the cashier handed them to me and gave me back my credit card.
I smiled and walked towards my car, thinking about the guy I just met.
