THIRD PERSON POINT OF VIEW

The first light of dawn spilled across the floor of Odette's suite, brushing against the edge of the silk sheets tangled around her legs. She lay still for a moment, eyes half-open, listening to the hush that wrapped the world outside. Somewhere in the distance, the city was waking—faint hums of traffic, the echo of a horn far below—but here, in this high room, it felt like she was floating above it all.

Her heart, however, had no interest in staying quiet. It drummed against her ribs, slow but deliberate, as though reminding her of the truth: this wasn't any morning.

"This is it," she murmured to herself, voice a little hoarse from sleep. Her lips tugged into a nervous half-smile. "No turning back now."
