Chapter 1 - PROLOGUE

THE FOUNDING LEGEND OF THE BANNERLANDS

"Before there were banners, there was only blood."

Long ago, the land now called the Bannerlands was fractured and burning. The seven regions — Arkenfall, Halemond, Caldrith Vale, Braemorin, Stonecrest, Edravon, and Varketh Hold — were each ruled by warlords and kings, locked in endless battles for land, pride, and vengeance.

There were no treaties. No alliances. Only raids, broken oaths, and generations of war.

But in the blackest winter, when frost claimed the fields and the skies rained ash from a volcanic fire in the north, a new warlord rose from the high cliffs of Arkenfall. His name was Theren Dragarth, a bastard son born of a disgraced warrior and raised in exile. He had no noble blood, only steel in his hand and fire in his eyes.

Theren did what no man had dared — he marched on the seven, one by one.

He broke the walls of Stonecrest, outflanked Caldrith Vale, and burned Braemorin's tents in the sand. He did not conquer by fear alone — he offered each defeated lord a banner, marked with their own sigil, to fly beneath his crown. They would keep their names, their bloodlines, their sons — but they would swear allegiance to a greater name:

"One land. One crown. Seven banners, one for each bloodline, raised together as one realm."

The final to bend the knee was Lord Seth of Varketh Hold, whose daughter Theren married as the final seal of unity.

And so was born the realm of kings — The Bannerlands. A land no longer ruled by pride, but by oath, iron, and the will of a single throne.
