Chapter 2 - Encounters

Rafael and Sylvia went to the client's house and found the body, her husband was still on the floor of their bedroom. Rafael looked attentive at the surroundings.

"He died last night but what the hell can make a hole like this." he thought and looked at the ghost woman beside him "It's possible."

He suddenly started to feel over the wooden floor and removed a plank. In the hidden place with a book within that was shredded. A picture the culprit missed fell down and it showed a white-eyed girl with silver hair.

"She'd blind." Rafael realized "And this book was ripped without removing the plank."

He looked around and took in all the information from the area.

"It was most likely around midnight...the window was open. Although this man didn't open the window and it was the killer. The victim returned home, the wife was meeting with her friends and no one was with the victim.

He fell on his back....probably the killer was already present when he entered the room and no signs of struggle. Widened eyes...I speculate that he knew who the killer was." Rafael thought walking around

The ghost followed after him quietly allowing him to collect his thoughts

"Why would the killer need to open a window....sensitive to smells or their entrance?" he thought "All I have of his is this photo of a blind girl and the information in the book was made unreadable."

Suddenly the ghost pulled Rafael back as spike fired upwards. Rafael raised his leg, hit a hard surface, and was pushed back. A spiked ball with black dots as eyes glared at them.

"I...I'm alright." He groaned

Rafael pushed forwards as spikes sprang out from where he was. To Sylvia's surprise, Rafael managed to tackle the ball backward although the spikes pierced through his forearm.

"WEAPON!" She yelled

"A gun?" Rafael went "How would I shoot a ghost?"

She flew forward, her body turned into a simple revolver and Rafael grabbed it. Three circles appeared around his right eye as he turned toward the incoming ball. He tried to jump over it but the ball bounced up and crushed him on the ceiling.

Rafael shot at it and the ball made the distance between each other. A purple liquid spilled out of its wound and it was clearly upset.

"Hey, Syl. How do we kill it?" Rafael panted "Or it might kill us."

Rafael looked through the circles and saw a red spot being emphasized. Rafael bit his lower lip as the ball bounced towards him, in a spilt second duck down and the ball fell on him. The ball suddenly stopped trying to crush him.

"Too late." Rafael smiled

BANG

The ball turned into sparkling fragments before disappearing. The room repaired itself and Sylvia turned back to her normal form.

"Well...partner. Thanks." Rafael smiled

Sylvia smiled happily

"When we get home. You're studying all types of weapons." Rafael smiled

Her smile vanished and tears fell down her cheeks. Rafael ignored her protesting as he dressed in a manner to hide his wounds.

The client stopped him, "Well?"

"I'll find the killer. How many blind people are there?" He asked

She scoffed, "There's only one defect in this town, the orphan Lucielle Zimra. My husband was too worried about that bat."

"I see. Can I have information about her?" He smiled trying to be polite

Lucielle's aunt, Brenda poured cloudy cold water on her blind niece as she slept. The door slammed as Lucielle opened her eyes into the darkness. The music of nature was stress-relieved although short-lived as she got out of bed.

Thanks to the ghosts she easily got ready for school. Brenda tossed her outside as she ate breakfast with her husband, Charles. Lucielle walked down the streets slowly towards her school that was on the outskirts of the town.

THUD

She hit something and it felt like a person of some sort so using her supernatural sight wouldn't be ideal. Lucielle flinched expecting an attack.

"Are you okay?" the voice asked with a panicked tone

She was surprised by the unknown person's concern although she didn't hate it. It sounded like a boy, he helped her up and collected her things.

"You're blind...." he suddenly said "Where are you going by yourself?"

"I'm going to school. I already know the way there." Lucielle answered coldly

He smiled, "I'm Alexander Sala. We go to the same school, can I take you to school?"

"Alexander Sala?" she repeated

"I moved into Silentvile two days ago. Who knows what will happen on your way to school? So let me be your escort."

Alexander showed no signs of backing down so Lucielle agreed with a sigh. He got his bag and held her hand.

"If it isn't blind Lucielle." a boy laughed

Alexander stood in front of her a glared at the gang of boys around Lucielle's age. The boys moved back a little at the sight of the older boy's angry look.

"You're new around her right? Don't involve yourself with that girl." a boy yelled "She's cursed. That's why she's an orphan, she killed her-"

The boy fell to the ground with a swollen cheek. Alexander's hand didn't even sting from the impact and his expression became cold.

"You dare-" Alexander frowned

The adults who were doing nothing finally came.

"How could you hit him?" the beaten boy's mother frowned, "Just for teaching that bat a lesson?"

Hostility was directed towards Lucielle, she tried to let go of his hand but Alexander grabbed it tighter. He looked at the people angrily and suddenly a dog bit the mother's arm violently. Alexander looked indifferent even as blood dropped off her arm and let out a sigh. He kept his grip firm and his expression unchanged.

"Sorry...sorry" Alexander went with a fake weary smile " She must have been so worried about him."

Alexander's eyes weren't apologetic in any way and the mother shivered slightly looking into his blue eyes. She grabbed her son and ran away continuously checking behind her shoulder to the dog.

"Let's go, we're late." Alexander smiled "I'll see you during break or else those idiots will bully you again."

Lucielle was taken to class and sat silently at her desk. It was the first time reaching school safely like this. She heard the door open.

"I'm the new English Teacher." the voice said "Call me, Mr. Rafael."
