A blue electric waves blazed, sparking allover his muscles, a sign his anger was at peak.
However, in situations like this, Kevin Moore understood and mastered how to calm down to avoid causing harm to any nearby life and destruction of the surroundings.
He closed his eyes and took a deep breath to relax.
"Third time am loosing myself. Am done!"
He said coldly, walking out of his mother's sight:
"I rest my case about father for good."
Kevin's downcast gaze was a clear message to Meg that he was heavyhearted. Humbly, he walked gently to find his ongoing art work. He grabbed his tools and continued from where he had stopped, crafting a whale from a rocky stone, quietly. Speechlessly, Meg kept eyes on him. Never in her life had she been so perturbed, so horribly anxious.
She sighed:
"Darn!"
To See her son in a pitiable state of distress was the last thing she could ever wish for. At the back of Meg's mind, she now concluded:
"A plague of a bond with his father conquered too deep this time."
But she wasn't willing to fulfill his heart desire whatsoever. This created a slight distance between both of them. Their way of living life ceased to be the same again in the following days. Kevin Moore became an expert in silent treatment, giving his mother a cold shoulder at all cost.
The indirect torture hit Meg so freaking loud.
"Am not hungry!" He replied coldly when his mother asked to follow her for comestibles.
Meg insisted:
"Starving yourself the whole day will lead to a whole bunch of health problems!"
But he gave her a deaf ear instead, attentive on his crafting angrily.
Maturely, she knew the cause of her son's cold behavior: why he sits alone outside for long hours at dawn and leave her lonely in the cave, a thing he used not to do. And as a mother who loved her son so dearly, she couldn't just sit back and watch their bond go in ruins. She had to improvise a way.
Mentally, as she watched him from a distance, she said:
"I need to bring back a smile on my son's face."
Nail-biting, Meg submerged in water allover a sudden.
And after some good time of absentia, Meg emerged back with an old version computer monitor in hands. It was all stuffed with deep water residues which made it so dirty, having stored it for twenty five years. Using a hand palm, she wiped off most of the residues.
Politely, she asked aloud:
"Come here son!"
Drowned into his crafting, Kevin didn't bother to respond to his mother's summon. Kevin's silent treatment continued to drive Meg nuts.
Her softness when it comes to her son could move the tallest mountains.
"Son, okay I'm sorry. I just want you to look at what I've got for you..."
Hesitantly, Kevin Moore turned. He lifted his eyes to see what his mother had this time to deceive him with. On watching, an object he had never seen before was in his mother's hands. Intrigued, he took slow footsteps upto the pond where his mother stationed.
In a lazy voice tone he asked, keenly eying the object.
"What's this mother?"
Smiling, Meg's face twitched as she prepared herself in position to tell him a story about it.
"I got it from your father the day we first met."
She shrugged:
"My first minutes with your father were tough. I had to confiscate this object (computer) from them because they were strangers who had invaded our home disturbed our peace. And I remember your father arguing with his friend,"
Flashback:
Gang Du : I told you we leave before things worsen, now we're about to loose all data we've spent months collecting in a blink of an eye... we can't go back to Capricon city with nothing Sean!
Sean Moore : this is a sea, remember! How far do you think the yacht can sail before the coming storm ruins our lives? What's more important is to sail back to the South East safe.
A strong argument took place between two diver friends on a yatch whose job was to film water geographical features.
Present day:
Kevin's attention was much more on the object in his mother's hands holding than the story she was trying to tell. Meg realised it.
"Um, thought that maybe it can brighten your eyes and return the lost smile on your face! I actually miss it."
With much care, she requested him.
"Hold it, it's your birthday gift."
Eager, with no hesitation, Kevin recieved the object from his mother with two hand. And as he held it, a bright smile smeared his face.
Kevin whispered excitedly;
"You mean..., this belongs to my father!"
Twitching her eyebrows with a smile, Meg noded yes.
"Your father's name is Sean Moore."
Meg began to narrate a catchy story from her past life for Kevin to get a hint.
"Like I told you before, he was far different from you and me. Let's say... um, he never had no tail, no scales and no fins same as we do have them. Your father was a human being."
Eager to know more, Kevin asked.
"Who is a human?"
Challenged by the immediate question, Meg thought for a better approach.
"Um, if I can describe it in simple terms I may say, humans are land creatures which look exactly the same way you look when you are not in water. However, for humans, their two lower limbs are permanent."
Kevin Moore looked a little bit out of his head, as his mother continued to narrate.
"I remember saving your father's life from the bottom of the sea. Humans can't even breath under water."
Kevin asked.
"Are humans bad creatures?"
Meg smiled in memories.
"All I can say is, they're somehow scary and complicated. However, your father and his friend were wonderful to me: I can't forget some drink called beer which they gave me that made my eyes look dull: around me, the world was spinning.. haha. Only that," on a downcast face, "Sean Moore never returned as he promised."
"How I wish I knew much about humans."
In the midst of the narrative, Kevin Moore go a stubborn idea.
"Mother...,"
Meg paid attention to hear what he had to say.
"Permit me...! Permit me to go and find father. Please!"
This triggered Meg to panick.
"What! No Kevin, I can't accept that! Besides, where are you going to find him you stubborn child?"
Kevin smiled:
"You dont have to worry too much mom. With a few detailed guidelines including his name, something tells me that I will not fail to bring him back to you."
Still not convinced, Meg sighed in refusal.
"No..."
Kevin begged:
"Please mom!"
Meg refused seriously.
"Forgot it! You don't know the risk behind what you want to do?"
Kevin became emotional.
"Then tell me why?! Why does your voice break when talking about him? It's obviously written all over you _ you miss him deeply! In your eyes!"
"No Kevin, No...! You can't do this to me...."
Kevin got on his knees and held her hands, looking into her eyes with passion.
"Mom, trust me. I can do this for us!"
....
Watching him insisting, Meg lost words to say.
"?...??...???"
Since she never wanted to see him sad, in a heap of thoughts Meg had to make a decision. Question marks multiplied around her face as she nervously looked at her son.
"You're an adult now", she said, "you have your own path to take and if this is the right time, then so be it."
As soon as the permission was granted to him, like a goat released off a tight rope tied around its neck, Kevin jumped into the water pond and hugged his mother with too much excitement, swimming her around the whole area on his back.
The treatment he gave her out of excitement made Meg beg, smiling shyly as she enjoyed the drive. It was high time for him to make his own decisions to start a man life.
"Come on son, stop it!"
Showering her with gratitude, Kevin jumped and flipping his body like an acrobatic all over the place, inside the rocky ancient cave.
"I love you so much mom,"
However, the human world out there was another complicated puzzle to solve.
Kevin Moore wasn't aware of this.
Excitedly, he flattered:
"When I bring father back home, don't ask him why he never returned to see you before giving him the warmest hug of his life."
With her unwavering parental love she held in his palms and passionately said;
"For all the years I've lived, you've been my only treasure. I cherish you and, I don't regret that little time I spent with your father Sean Moore. Make sure you return home safely for me."
Affectionately, nearly tearing, she hugged her son and both smiled their approval.
