Chapter 4 - A heartfelt wish

He didn't know how much time had passed but father's voice was laced with a weary edge as he once more rambled a thousand things at once.

Sometimes he held his hand, wich felt big in his, other times he started moving things.

Creating things especially for him.

Apparently a dragon flew above him, enforced with magic, surrounded with multiple bats because humans compared them to it.

He wasn't human, a thought that was just that a thought.

"-a black background with trees would be lovely, don't you think Adrian?

Ofcourse I'll add some bats, some big and small, that way they suit your flying companions and then we'll even install a new big bed in a certain form.

Have you already thought of what you want?

You can choose anything really!

Something green or blue, even yellow!

Just anything would do."

A part of him felt the sadness and pain in the other but the sleep was addicting, he didn't want to wake up.

The possibility of tomorrow, what was it worth?

It was so empty, was it the thing that they said was missing?

That made him feel like this, faded.

"Ianthe."

"Love.

Can I have a hug?"

"Always, you don't even need to ask.''

Father and mother were like that, mother always stood behind dad and the same thing turned around.

Their love was felt even with closed eyes and they loved him just as much.

But he couldn't move, couldn't break out from this rabbit hole.

''We have a visit.'' A muffled yes sounded.''Doctors or otherwise experts on the matter of mana and such. They don't know why they were called but the promise of a challenge made them accept.''

''When will they check?''

''Tomorrow, the king and queen decided it was better to gauge them first.''

------

''So we're all very curious what was labelled as challenging.''

It was a foreign voice, elderly but not that much, a rasp in his voice as he spoke in excitement.

''I shall repeat the words from yesterday again, you're all welcome to stay and help find a solution but if one of you wants to leave your memories shall be erased.''

Drastic, he always wondered why he was kept a thight knit secret.

Why he was named an impossibility.

''That's alright, I'm eager to be of service.''

''Well then, let me present you-"a dramatic pause as the door was opened."-Adrian Amias Amdis Acheron. The first and only full blooded vampire born in a hundred seventy two years.''

Noiseness from before dimmed until a shocked no way sounded.

''What's wrong with him?''

It was clear they were doctors, although the woman had sounded a little too enthusiastically when she said no way.''

''In short a part of him, his soul, his mana is missing we tried all we could but nothing helped.''

''How long has he been like this?''

At the news the excitement of the woman and now prodding of his skin stilled.

''Three days after he was born, a total of seven years now.''

''What about the parents?''

''Distraught, as you can imagine miss.''

"You mean Nyxara."

"Right and you?"

"Cole, shall we check the patient over then?"

"Go right ahead, I'm here for observing and safety.

Don't mind me."
