Chapter 155 - Busy Town Life 3

"Sigh..." I loudly exhaled.

In the end, Chester got a little too excited and he decided to ask me even more questions. I entertained him at first, but I soon got tired of his excessiveness. He certainly got ahead of himself.

And even now, he refuses to leave my side...

"Don't mind me," he said as he caught me mindlessly staring at him.

How annoying...

"Oi, Eria-san! I caught some real fresh fish today! Come take a look, I'll give some of them to you for free!"

"Is that you, Eria? Come! I was thinking of giving you some of my vegetables today!"

"Hey, Eria! I've cut some thick juicy meat just yesterday! I was actually planning on giving a portion of it to you!"

After the Dark army's attack, I became even more popular in the market area than I already was. They now look up to me, specially more so than the regular citizens. According to them, I apparently saved more than their lives in that attack, I also saved their business.

Ever since then, they would always give me some of their products for free. I naturally feel bad for it, so I would always find a way to compensate them. However, they would most of the time simply refuse my offer to help.

"You're really popular here, aren't you?" Chester comments.

"Kuku! That's master for you!" Log chimed in.

We left the market area with multiple baskets of gifts and free products.

For now, I decided to temporary put them in my storage. Right away, I felt it becoming too full. I'll definitely need to sort them out later.

"Hey, mister noble, how about you come play with us?"

"We'll make you feel good."

Since it's near the market area, we've also came across Lilith's Garden, one of the two brothels in town. Even in broad daylight, it's properly operating. Some of its ladies were even advertising themselves in public.

While they were getting Chester's, and surprisingly even Log's attention, I did my best to hide my face from them. I know they wouldn't recognize me, but I just couldn't take the risk.

"I heard they hired a new girl who's been popular lately... Maybe I'll come visit again soon..." Chester mindlessly murmur as he stares at the tall establishment.

"H-Heh...? Shouldn't you try that more expensive brothel instead? I heard nobles and rich merchants prefer it more."

"Hm? You're right. It would certainly suit me better."

I pumped my fist after I successfully persuaded him into going to the other town brothel instead. Now I won't need to worry about him accidentally becoming my customer...

Without an exact goal in mind, Log, Chester, and I continue to roam the town. Along the way, I helped an old lady carry her stuff, searched for a little girl's missing cat, and chased away some thugs bullying a lone boy. Nothing out of the ordinary happened at all.

"What are you doing...?"

"What do you mean?"

"Someone like you... Acting all friendly and servile... It does not suit your position at all..."

"You're totally acting like Fin now. What's up with you noble people? Can't you see I'm just being kind? You two could learn from me! Be a gentleman for once!"

"Guh! D-Don't be mistaken! I can act as a gentleman if I want to!"

"Hmph! You're just saying that."

"Tch! Whatever!"

"Master, can I have another one?"

"Umu, take as many you want."

Saying so, I handed Log a lunchbox with my homemade sandwiches.

After walking for so long, we've decided to finally take a rest. So, we're now sitting on a bench under the shadow of a tree.

Since it's also the prime time to have our lunch break, I took out my homemade food. As usual, Log began eating right away. I flavored my food first. As for Chester—since he apparently didn't bring any food with him, I was left with no other choice but to share some my portion with him.

"How peaceful..." Chester mumbled out loud.

"As it should be!"

"Hmmr... You're aware you're a legendary hero, right? You should be dealing with the Dark army right now."

"As I said, I'm not a hero."

"You're a waste of talent..."

For the first time in a while, the day passed peacefully...
