Archer sat beside Bella, who made room for him while a small smile crossed her face. ''So what's wrong?'' He asked.
''How can you be so casual about killing people?''
He let out a heavy sigh at her words, but decided to share the truth. ''Since I was thirteen, I've been hunted, Dragon Hunters, fanatics, all sorts of people,'' he said. ''And that's not even counting the abuse I endured from my parents back then. It shaped me into the man I am today.''
''That doesn't explain why you don't care about death?''
Archer's expression darkened as he continued. ''On Thrylos, death is a daily occurrence. I've witnessed thousands slaughtered just for a small kingdom to claim a patch of farmland. The Alliance, the ones I'm fighting now, razed an entire city to the ground just to get to me. That was what pushed me past my breaking point.''
Belle's eyes widened in shock as she whispered. ''What happened after that?''
