Each of her current actions and decisions might have seemed restrained and hesitant at times, but there were usually many reasons behind her actions.
She was just trying to survive the best way she could, without trying to do things that would ultimately lead her faster toward her own destruction.
While she was doing all of that, she still had times when she needed to make difficult choices and consider how she wanted to live going forward.
Her goals may have started purely from the need to survive and to get revenge, but that had changed a little since then.
Her field of vision was a lot narrower back then, and the current Ash was able to take more of a look at her surroundings and the bigger picture beyond just herself and her needs.
