Chapter 23 - Teleportation Magic Array (2)

Lucas stared at the door hatefully and grumbled. For the Devil to throw him like trash made him feel humiliated. But what could he do? Could he fight back with his meager strength?

Gritting his teeth, he tried to fix his body position and checked if something changed his body, hoping there was no something missing. His Peter was still there, thankfully, and there was no scar or sign that his body was dissected.

Breathing out a sigh of relief, he stood up and examined his environment. For now, it would be better to familiarize himself with his surroundings rather than try to escape from this hellish place.

His surprise attack had been pointless against the Devil, and the latter never showed his actual strength. It was much better to inspect the room he was in… because there was something that would help him escape.

The purpose of this room itself!

Lucas believed that the bookshelf must contain the knowledge of the teleportation magic array. It didn't come to him that the Devil naturally learned how to activate it.

It was like an adult suddenly learning how to engineer things without research.

Therefore, instead of calling this room a Teleportation Magic Array room, it would be better to call it the Research room!

Teleportation Magic Array must have cost a lot of time and resources for these bookshelves to contain many books just the activation of it.

Of course, Lucas also surmised that this bookshelf contained other knowledge regarding runes and even the language of the Devil itself. No matter what, to find out what knowledge hides all the books inside the bookshelf, he had to browse all of them!

It was a surprise that Lucas did not sprint towards the door and confirmed if it was locked or not. But instead, he was more intrigued to learn and research the teleportation magic array.

Lucas didn't walk towards the bookshelf yet since he decided to gather all the cluttered paper on the floor.

The room had a rectangular space, and the hallway connected to the other breadth, which the door acted as a bridge: at the almost center was the teleportation magic array, and on the other side was the bookshelf facing it.

After Lucas gathered all the papers, there was now a stack of papers in his hand. There were too many of them since the top paper almost reached his neck.

Lucas placed the stack of papers because he noticed there were also cluttered papers on the wall.

"Really? Just how disorganized is this room? It is indeed a Research room for a mad scientist."

Lucas imagined the Devil as the mad scientist, even further thinking of the Devil wearing a white coat with messy ball hair. Sadly, the Devil was bald, but that still doesn't mean he wasn't closer to a mad scientist.

"I wonder, what is he researching except the teleportation magic array?"

Lucas slid his vision to the wall through the top and found out he couldn't perceive the ceiling. Darkness obscured the very top, and only now Lucas wondered about the source of the dim light.

There was no lamp, no bulb, and the source of light was only spread below the room, making it hard to locate it.

Lucas couldn't help but shudder from thinking of it.

'Maybe, maybe the light came out from the floor?'

Yet, his deduction was wrong since the color of the floor only reflected the dim light, which means the source was somewhere else. It didn't come from the wall either since he suspected that half of it only glimmered.

So if the wall was the source of light, surely, it should be enough to light up the ceiling, right?

Knowing he was only scaring himself, Lucas quickly retracted his focus and returned to gathering all the cluttered paper. Taking a step forward, he slowly walked towards the wall, where most of the paper was gathered.

For some reason, he felt inexplicably nervous. He was aware of being paranoid, but his imagination was running wild. It was simply getting out of control.

Finally, he decided to change his breathing rhythm to calm himself down until he finally reached the wall with a serene face. He moved his hand forward and touched the paper, and slowly retracted it with the paper in his grasp.

Nothing happened.

In spite of that, he did not let his guard down and grabbed another piece of paper. Finally realizing he was only being paranoid, a chuckle brightened his face.

'Stupid.'

He grabbed another piece of paper, and only now he had the time to scrutinize the content and what it was made of.

Earlier, when he was picking the piece of paper, he completely neglected it, for he was engrossed by his thoughts. Furthermore, the haste of collecting the papers was only his mind since after he cleaned the room he would reside in for now, he could then browse the books on the bookshelf.

After all, he would always remain a clean freak despite living in another world.

"I wonder what this paper is made of? If I'm not wrong, this should be the skin of mammals since it's tough and rigid. I haven't touched the skin of an elephant or a lion, but why is this skin so tough?"

Lucas couldn't continue to wonder while rubbing the piece of paper as a consequence of his vision laid on the content itself. The language was completely foreign to him, yet it appeared he could understand them slightly.

When he first laid his eyes on the piece of paper because of the familiarity of the content, he failed to realize that the language was unknown, despite the many languages on Earth.

It appeared cursive, but not like noodles, the writing was also quite large, and there were spaces between the words if Lucas was not wrong.

There was a picture depicted on the side, and it didn't affect the writing. It was surprisingly organized.

But what caught Lucas' attention was the header at the top and the image.

It was an image of a runic circle, similar to the teleportation magic array, and reading the header…

It stated from the Devil's language, <>

A/N: The update rate will increase twice starting today because it was getting featured. Hopefully, when I reached forty chapters before the end of the month, I will now lock it at the last days of the month to participate MGS. I don't want to say this, but I needed a financial support to my education. Thank you for your understanding and for reaching this point! I greatly appreciate it!
