Chapter 339 - Story 28 Night City Legend Chapter 4

To say the least I didn't exactly trust the triple layers of chain link fencing with my life when it came to something like a Deathclaw... Or worse rushing into my facility.

So I decided to just be a good boy and head on home before the biological horrors rose up from the shadows.

"I should rent a taxi to get home... I probably won't be able to get home quick enough if I am only riding public transport." I muttered to myself and I got onto my phone and ordered myself a taxi through my implants synching up with my phone.

The wait for a taxi wasn't long, literally not even like five minutes of standing just inside the walled-in section of the city after I got back past the walls anyway.

And after putting my address in, I frowned seeing the system list several 'accidents' that required rerouting traffic around the city so it was going to take a bit longer.

So I settled in to ride the much more comfortable ride back home.

But as we hit the downtown city where the megabuildings were with my habtower also was. An explosion or something rang out and a loud crash rang out as something smashed into the roof of my taxi denting it inwards with the automatic taxi coming to a stop at the impact.

"Accident Detected... Fault not found in occupant, refunding rides charge. Please step out of the vehicle while NCPD is called." The taxi's automated systems spoke making me groan.

With my oversized pistol at the ready I went to get out of the car but the door got caught slightly by the dented in roof so I had to kick it open to get my ass out of the taxi.

And as I got out of the car I blinked as I saw the form of a woman with her head lolling over the edge of the car's roof as she seemingly just stared at the star-lacking night sky above our heads.

'Is she dead?' I wondered before I blinked as I realized this chick was Sasha or whatever, who was part of Maine's crew in Cyberpunk Edgerunners before David joined or whatever.

I leaned in a bit closer and I blinked seeing her chest barely rising and falling so I extended my docking cable and attached it to her neck neural port.

Going through the log of internal damage the netrunner had her systems listing due to her far better implants needing to keep careful track of her body, I realized how she actually landed on my taxi ass first and then the majority of the impact was dispersed across her back.

"Fuck it. I want to scan your implants." I mused as I took out a needle filled with high-grade painkillers and I jabbed it into her thigh to cut off her pain before I carefully pulled her into the back seat of the taxi.

Then I got into the front seat of the taxi with its systems saying in warning. "Warning! Passengers must remain in the back. Camera systems have logged your information and will be-"

I cut the systems off with a mild flare as the car glowed purple as I encassed it in a Mass Effect. Then with its internals being held in stasis, I hacked into the car using my wrist cables before I began manually driving home.

Once I got back to the hab tower I secured Sasha's body with some plaster casts so she couldn't move and then began the wonderfully awkward experience of using a cart I found to drag her cast-covered body up into the had tower, through the elevator and up to my apartment...

Thank all the divines that had obviously abandoned this damned world that Gloria or one of my other neighbors didn't see me either as I certainly got enough weird looks.

Once I got into my apartment I ripped off her casts and seeing her getting close to dying at this point even with the painkiller and other stuff I had injected her with to extend her time. I knew what I needed to do...

I all but dropped the leather-wearing netrunner into the Medidoc and I relaxed hearing the machine hum to life as needles shot into her body sending a chemical cocktail into her to stabilize her as rotary saws and pincers then came to life and began removing her clothes and cut into her flesh to begin fixing her up.

"Ok... She needs a new spine thats easy enough. She also needs a new femur as her organic one is just shards or paste, and she will be needing a new set of lungs which have collapsed since I last checked on her." I mused as I began inputting details into the autodoc.

And then while the autodoc would be prepping her for surgery and taking over her body so her heart didn't give out or anything. I used the biomass of the rats and the hooker's corpse to begin making medigel that was then added to the auto doc.

So that the new flash-grown organs would match her DNA signature, and there wouldn't be any rejection or anything... Though I wasn't exactly doing this all for free obviously.

Sasha had a high-end Arasaka Cyberdeck with several Quickhack programs I wanted to copy, along with just being able to take apart and make my own better Cyberdeck so I could slot in the Kioshi synthetic eyes I improved upon from the dead hooker I found.

"Ooooh... You naughty bitch, no wonder you can hack offensively so strongly." I whispered as the Autodoc ejected Sasha's Cyberdeck from extracting it from the back of her skull and it only took a few minutes of research for me to realize it was a NetWatch Netdriver.

Which was a Cyberdeck specifically built for attacking sites and other people's implants, systems and such. As NetWatch was a government organization that kept a watch on other netrunner who fucked about on the Net. This cyberdeck being made for those NetWatchers to remotely attack other Netrunners and fry their brains remotely.

"Although its RAM storage isn't that great, nor is its heat sink that efficent... That doesn't matter! I have literal dark matter and-"

I shivered feeling another charge enter my soul as I got another charge to use for my Inspired Inventor cheat.

"Ok that was rude... In either case this will work just fine especially when I fix it up." I muttered as I put the Cyberdeck into my atomic scanner to map it out down to its very atoms so I could recreate it but better later on in a couple hours after the machine was done scanning.

But in the meantime, I paused a soft buzz rang out as someone knocked on my door.

'Who is that supposed to be?' I wondered and with my pistol in hand, I walked over to my laptop to check my door's camera only to see Gloria along with David was standing outside my door.
