Chapter 315 - Adventure of Astral Part 59.5: Happy Meals

Lark instantly grabbed Desmond as gunfire would have entered his chest. "Three on two. I don't have the time to fake your death or explain but we just need to live!" Lark rolled across the living room as he kicked the couch in the doorway as Desmond stopped it. Pulling out his pistol. Lark grabbed his belt and threw tiny orbs onto the ceiling as Desmond sprinted past into the kitchen as both of them watched each entryway.

Two of the men went down the hallway as the third hopped into the living room. He slowly approached the dining room. "Lark you have a shit ton of explaining to do." Desmond pulled a flashbang from his chest, removing the pin and launching it into the living room. The mist released from the orbs as the guy began to scream in agony.

The other two rushed to the kitchen as Lark waited for their entry. He pulled the first barrel of the rifle down and melted it with his gloves, the officer tried to shoot as the rifle combusted in his hands. Lark's jacket turned into its hard shell as the second one entered. Desmond fired a bullet right between his eyes as all that was heard were the groans of the one who lost his hands.

Desmond fired another round and finished the one in the living room before putting the last one out of his misery from point blank. "Talk before the next one becomes yours." Lark stood up as he leaned into the barrel of the pistol.

"The power plant that blew up eighteen years ago wasn't a power plant." Lark started with that as Desmond dropped his pistol to the ground. "I was ground zero, it wasn't a reactor failure but a man who infiltrated the facility and saw its crimes of torturing hybrids."

"What the fuck did you get yourself into?" Desmond looked over and saw the dead lady on the table. "Idea. Said we can't fake my death right?" Lark got a soft smile. "I'll swap over my side of the project. You look to see if the government really tried to kill you."

"It isn't a try. They wanted to kill the two rumored children from that day." Lark opened up a digital display as it connected to all the devices in the house as Desmond put on gloves.

"You mean the hybrids have their savior?" He took it in for the moment. "Footace shows they were the ones who killed this family. And was asked to come here, only reason we had any lead. You trained them."

"The government's been corrupt and we both know that. I was just gifted the two capable of breaking the system." Lark found a blocked number that called. "Wonder what they talked about. I can't decode it here. But the call is downloaded now." Lark smiled as Desmond laughed. He put all of his uniform onto her.

"You think it's wrong to put a dead man's clothes on?" Desmond asked as he sprinted up the stairs. Lark sighed, now at least he has another capable hand on his side. He changed Desmond's description directly from the house into what the wife was. Desmond no longer existed in the system. He came storming down with a t-shirt and pants.

"We have about two minutes before this neighborhood gets leveled. I deliberately didn't hide my tracks for the recovery process of these bodies to be harder." Lark showed him the picture as Desmond shook his head.

"The tech junkie still as good as ever. How is Dante?" Desmond started walking to the door as Lark followed suit. Opening the door to the safe room as the two kids came out. "No, we aren't taking them."

"You aren't, I am. Dante is doing really well, he takes after his mom on his good nature, but his dad's good looks." Desmond cackled as the two left out the front door. Jackson and Etheldia followed quickly behind.

"Got the dream car I see. You may have to use the gas heavy." Desmond kept his earpiece in. "Jets are thirty seconds out." Lark got the kids into the back as they buckled themselves. Desmond got in as Lark slid across the hood. The car's tires squealed as Lark used the cul-de-sac to fully launch off and get going as quickly as possible.

He was going straight out of the development as they watched the explosion level the neighborhood. They got out just in time as Lark didn't let off the gas. "Well kids, what do we want for a happy meal?" Lark asked as the four of them were heading back home.

Dante got their normal order from Alstofo's and was heading back home with Willow. They didn't see their dad's car, Dante wasn't worried as he knew his dad wouldn't leave without reason. "So we begin the move in process tomorrow?" He looked at Willow.

"Yeah, it should be an easy time." She went to open the door for him as it was locked. "When does your dad lock the door?" Dante froze. "Did something happen?" Dante gave the food to Willow as he unlocked it as quickly as possible. Panic set into her face as well as Dante flung the door open on the inside.

"IS EVERYTHING OKAY!" Dante shouted as he sprinted around the house, getting to the kitchen as he saw both Angel and James sound asleep on the kitchen table. Her wings fluttered as she woke up.

"Yeah, it was way worse before. Everything is better now." Angel caught a whiff of the food as she perked up. "He got beat up pretty good, but he is doing better now." She stretched her arms. "But he needs to eat food, luckily for us you brought it."

"Yeah, we have the usual order for us. Alstolfo wants our heads when it comes in. Just wait till he realizes that two people eat ninety percent of the order." Dante laughed as Willow came in and put the food on the kitchen counter.

"What got him so good?" Willow asked as James slowly woke up. "What happened on your mission to do this much to you." She slowly started to grab her and Dante's food.

"It all gets blurry after a second. I faded in and out during that fight. They bashed Angel over the head with a club and stabbed me so many times. Then it goes blank." James leaned upwards as Angel slid the table to the wall for him to lean on.

"Well. He activated his aura and got an ability. He did so well." Angel ruffled his hair as Willow brought over the remaining food for the two of them as Angel slowly began to feed James. She would snack on things here and there while Dante and Willow ate theirs.

"His powers caused him to survive fatal wounds from hunters." Dante ate his food. "That makes me more impressed than anything." Dante had his food finished as he was working on some small sketches to begin phase two of the project. "You two do need to be gentle in public if you are ever spotted."

"We had this talk with the nurses. All three of them never saw a hybrid and were worried for a moment until I calmed them down. If they are kind to us. They can be fine. They all understood and loved us." Angel took a bite of food. "They gave me scitchers, it was very pleasant." The four laughed as Dante stretched.

"I'll begin to pack. Willow and I will have the place all ready for both of you when you are healthy." He smiled as James hissed. "Rest up buddy and eat." Dante winked as he left the kitchen with Willow. The two of them stayed in the kitchen and kept eating, eventually falling asleep after they finished.
