Chapter 4 - Chapter four

Present time

"Sorry it took so long, Riya." I frown seeing her sit in the same spot. She looks sad, and I hate that.

She looks at me with those sweet eyes. I really hope I can continue to hide her in the cemetery, but I don't think that's possible. I'm not going to be able to continuously be away from my mate this long. I most likely have to ask Ajay's permission to leave the pack, which I highly doubt he'll give me.

"Maybe we shouldn't be together," she says, sending an arrow to my heart. She looks in the opposite direction, and I can see the disappointment in her face.

"Don't say that, baby," I rub her cheek. I hope I was able to cheer her up. Though that seems impossible.

Grabbing her hand, I led her to the bench. She walks slowly, she seems unsure about everything. I hated seeing her scared. I really hope she can learn to trust me.

"Isn't this bench right in the open?" She looks around frantically.

"Riya, everyone is preoccupied." The night was silent, reassuring that my statement was true.

She looks at me with wide eyes. Grabbing her hand, I bring it to my lips. She smiles, and that makes me feel better. This girl has completely stolen my heart. There isn't anything I wouldn't do for her or be for her, but most importantly, there isn't anybody I wouldn't protect her from, and that's including the alpha.

"You haven't told anyone?"

I shake my head.

She nods.

Gently grabbing her chain with my hand, I lifted her face so I could stare into her eyes. She is seriously the most beautiful person I have ever seen. So fragile, so sweet, and so innocent.

I bring my lips to hers, I kiss her intensely. I have kissed other girls before, but nothing compares to this or the feelings that sweep over me. The taste of her mouth overwhelms me, making me wish I could carry her off somewhere and make love to her.

My lips unwillingly pull away from Riya. I could kiss her forever, but then I hear Ajay's howl. It was horrible. I could hear the pain in it even from miles away. Something serious happened.

Shit. His cries fill the air, sending the birds flying from the trees. I felt chest pain in my soul, and for the first time, I felt another pack member's feelings. Zare, something happened to her.

"I think there's an emergency at the pack, I have to get going." I rub her cheek one last time.

"You'll be back later."

I nod.

Taking one last look at the girl who stole my heart, my feet race towards the camp.
