Chapter 7 - Kotetsujou No Kabaneri Chapter 7

Then a kabane broke through the wall behind him, startling Nasrul causing him to stumble out of the bed. This made the bed become some kind of temporary barrier between him and kabane. He quickly turned around, pulling the trigger of his rifle as he did so. A loud gunshot echoed throughout the house, and the kabane fell to the ground, its orange light flickering and then fading away.

Nasrul took a moment to catch his breath, his heart racing from the sudden attack.

Normal people already panic and shoot randomly at this time, the only reason that he was able to make that split decision is only because of the gamer instinct that he had grinded over the years.

Even though the shoot does not hit directly toward the core and just graze the side, it seems like the damage was too big. The place where the kabane got shot, there was a hole there.

The sniper rifle mode is crazy. That is the only thought that he had.

It looks like this weapon even though it does not use conventional bullets cannot be easily underestimated.

He then turned back toward the door, aiming his sniper rifle in rifle mode and waiting for any further signs of movement. The other kabane on the other side of the door that leads to the outside seems to be still scratching the door.

He needs to take action right now before the door is unable to hold the kabane advance. Not only that the sound of the gunshot will gather more of this kabane.

Even though the plasma energy bullet should have low sound unlike the standard bullet, the rifle in sniper mode gave a loud sound.

He is sure that right now, any kabane in his immediate vicinity will come here.

So he should move away from here right now and find another shelter.

The time is still in the early evening so he needs to move now while there is still light. Then he realizes something when he walks beside the dead kabane.

The kabane that had broken through the wall was different from the others he had encountered so far. It was wearing clothes that seemed unlike the rest of the kabane. It was wearing modern clothing and clothes that came from earth. His version of earth.

There was something in its hands.

Curiosity getting the better of him, Nasrul approached the lifeless kabane, keeping his rifle at the ready just in case. He knelt down beside it and examined the object in its hand. It was a small, leather-bound book. Nasrul's curiosity turned to confusion - he had never seen a kabane with an object like this before.

He hesitated for a moment, but then reached out and picked up the book. As he flipped through the pages skimming it, he realized that it was a journal - one that had been written by a human before they had turned into a kabane.

The word that was used also came from his own country so he can read it.

When he stepped out of the hole, the same as he thought the kabane was already converging at this place. He can see from the distant two to three kabane each from the right and left. The kabane that he can see at least.

Without waiting anymore he ran as fast as he could to the front because that place had the lowest kabane that he could see. He ran while looking at the surroundings and avoiding any kabane.

Using the speed of the kabane itself when it tried to lunge toward him, he was able to dodge the attack and leave it behind.

Then he continues to run away.

The kabane able to run and catch him but it depend on whether they able to see him. Adding the fact that they seem to be unable to make sudden turns really helps him.

This is able to make him able to leave the kabane before they are able to put their sight on him again.

If he sees any kabane on the road, he tries to use other roads that are available. He does this a few times.

Running blindly will not get him anywhere, it most likely that he will get himself killed. He needs to find a shelter, a safe house to tide the situation.

Combined with that he is a gamer, physical activity can be said to be in the dust bin.

He ran without stopping across five to six houses before he entered one of the houses that was still intact there.

Unlike before where he takes a very careful approach, he just opens the door and trains the weapon inside the house.

Seeing that there is no kabane inside, he closes the door and makes a fast sweep inside to make sure it is safe.

Then he sits beside the bed. If something like before happens again, he can make the kabane take a little time to reach him.

He takes a long breath from all that running.

'This is really not something that he should be doing at this age'
