Chapter 789 - Flame Orb

And these Pokémon with higher life levels have another name among Trainers, and that is Legendary Pokémon and Mythical Pokémon!

If it hadn't been for a twist of fate that made Xerneas take notice of Terrance's Altaria, granting it enormous amounts of life energy and the technique to control that energy, the idea of fusing a flame like the Flame of Life would have been nothing but wishful thinking.

Faced with Blaine's praise, Terrance was at a loss for words. At that moment, Blaine turned around and said to the two female Trainers, "You're challengers, right? I'm terribly sorry, but as you can see, the battlefield has been damaged, so it looks like the Gym battle will have to be postponed until tomorrow."

"Oh right, I forgot to introduce myself. I'm the Gym Leader of Cinnabar Gym, Blaine." Blaine smiled at the two of them and added, "And as for what happened here today, could I ask you not to tell anyone about it?"

"No problem, we'll definitely keep it a secret. We won't say a word even if we die!" The two sisters replied in unison, quickly scrambling to their feet, their faces flushed red as they looked at Terrance, as if they wanted to imprint this handsome young Trainer's face into their memories.

...

...

After the challengers had left, Terrance looked at Blaine. He could tell that Blaine wanted to discuss something with him.

"Terrance, do you know why I built my Gym inside the Cinnabar Volcano?" Blaine asked.

"Is it to use the volcano to train Fire-type Pokémon?" Terrance replied.

"That's certainly one of the reasons." Blaine smiled slightly, gazing at the magma below. "But it's not the main reason."

"Then what is it?"

"Because this is the habitat of my strongest partner. I stayed here just to wait for it. That Moltres isn't a Pokémon I caught, but rather a friend I made in my youth. Although my Rapidash, Arcanine, and Magmortar are also strong, compared to Moltres, they're still a bit lacking. Haha." Blaine revealed something that surprised Terrance. It turned out Moltres had once inhabited this volcano.

"Surprised, aren't you? That Moltres is now unbelievably powerful. Of course, some of the credit goes to my own nurturing, haha. I once participated in the Indigo Plateau Conference, saw the Sacred Flame, and even once had the idea of cultivating the Flame of Life. But decades have passed, and neither my Pokémon nor Moltres could ever skillfully control life energy or reach the level of the master of the Sacred Flame at the Indigo Plateau Conference. This has always been my regret," Blaine said wistfully.

"When I was young, it was also because of this regret that I couldn't challenge my way to the Champion position."

Recalling the stories of his youth, Blaine was filled with emotion. After he finished, he looked at Terrance. "Can I ask you for a favor?"

"What is it?" Terrance was taken aback. If Blaine was going to ask about the technique for controlling life energy, he really wouldn't be able to help. The guidance Xerneas gave Altaria was more like a form of inheritance. Terrance hadn't even succeeded in getting Altaria to teach Gallade self-Mega Evolution, let alone a higher-difficulty skill like fusing the Flame of Life.

"Once Altaria's Flame of Life grows even stronger, find an opportunity to let Altaria battle with my Moltres," Blaine said seriously.

Blaine did not make the rude request of asking to learn the technique for controlling life energy. Although he didn't know whether Terrance would be willing to teach him or not, this method was undoubtedly very precious, and Terrance had no reason to tell him. So, Blaine only wanted to resolve the issue lingering between himself and Moltres.

Since he couldn't master the Flame of Life, he would defeat it!

"To be able to battle a powerful Pokémon, of course I would love to," Terrance replied quickly. Blaine's Moltres sounded like a formidable opponent.

"Haha, that's good," Blaine laughed heartily, patting Terrance on the shoulder. "Then let me help you out. Come out, Magmar!!"

As Blaine finished speaking, from beneath the lava, a Magmar soared up into the air. Terrance was not surprised when he saw it.

Over the past month, Terrance had already learned that Blaine had raised two Magmortar and three Magmar; some to face challengers, and some Blaine carefully raised as his main team members. The Magmar that had just flown up was one bred for handling challengers.

At this moment, this Magmar was holding an orb radiating heat, and upon seeing the orb, Terrance was taken aback.

"This is a Flame Orb. It's already absorbed plenty of fire energy from the magma and is one of my treasured items. Don't be shy, you can use this orb to help your Altaria train in fire energy. If I'm not mistaken, Altaria only improved its fire control within the last month, right?"

"You really don't miss anything, do you?" Terrance chuckled and looked at the Flame Orb. He could sense the tremendous energy inside it. With this orb's help, Altaria's fire training would indeed become more efficient; even after leaving the volcano, he wouldn't lose an effective way to train.

This Flame Orb, buried in the volcano for who knows how long, clearly contained massive Fire Type energy. Even for Altaria, it would take some time to absorb it.

"This really is a treasure." Terrance shook his head. He had no idea how long Blaine had left this Flame Orb in the volcano—a year, two years, or even ten? Terrance didn't know, so he was hesitant to accept it, not wanting to owe such a favor.

"What treasure? It's nothing." Blaine laughed, shouted a few times, and then two more Magmar flew up, each holding two more orbs, nearly causing Terrance to choke.

"Senior Blaine, just how many Flame Orbs have you hidden in the volcano?" Terrance said, looking completely defeated.

"These are just my accumulated stock. Whether for raising my own Pokémon or giving as gifts, they're good things. With the volcano's help, creating Flame Orbs rich in energy is easy. Over the years, I've collected a lot of them. Don't feel any burden. I just hope you can help Altaria master the Flame of Life as soon as possible, so it can face Moltres with the power of fire. This is just my selfish wish," Blaine said.

Terrance fell silent, then decisively said, "In that case, thank you very much."

If he went looking for such treasures on his own, it would hardly be so easy. After thinking it over, Terrance accepted it. After handing over the orb, Blaine laughed heartily, "Do your best and don't waste Altaria's potential."

After Altaria mastered the Flame of Life technique, Terrance didn't leave Cinnabar Gym immediately, but stayed for a few more days to consolidate the technique.

During these days, Blaine was noticeably more enthusiastic in hosting Terrance. Compared to a Fairy Type master, what interested Blaine even more was a Trainer who had mastered the Flame of Life.

However, after a few days, Terrance was surprised to discover a new change in Carbink. This was the second time it had undergone a transformation.
