Kirlia learned the move Teleport from Gallade. Although it obtained Gallade's true teachings, its training time was still too short to reach Gallade's flawless level.
However, Kirlia has its own unique Teleport technique, and that is the move Ally Switch!
Using Ally Switch as a teleportation move!
Currently, Kirlia's method is to leave behind Confusion Markers, then use its perception of these Markers to swap positions, making up for its lack of Teleport experience with powerful computational ability.
By swapping with Confusion Markers to perform Teleport, and deciding its moving position based on sensing when an enemy touches a Marker, Kirlia treats the whole battlefield like a chessboard when thinking about how to attack. This is its unique Teleport technique and combat style.
Although Terrance hadn't experienced a true team battle yet, he has a clear idea of Kirlia's role—not as an attacker, but as another core member, or more simply, the brain.
In battle, Kirlia can fully sense the changing situation of the field through Confusion Markers, then use Fairy Aura and Fairy Mark as mediums. With its Ability, Telepathy, it lets other Pokémon and Terrance receive the same information.
In moments of crisis, Kirlia can even use a Confusion Marker as a substitute to instantly teleport its teammates elsewhere, which Gallade cannot do because it lacks Kirlia's powerful psychic power and computational ability!
With the superb support of Fairy Mark and Fairy Aura, Kirlia could effectively give the whole team Future Sight-like eyes for observing the entire battlefield!
When Kirlia evolves, its psychic power will increase dramatically, allowing it to both support its teammates and pose a major threat to opponents. In short, Kirlia will not only become a team core from another perspective—acting as a second Trainer and covering the areas Terrance can't—it would also be a powerful commander, perfect in every way.
"It's... actually competing with Sabrina in psychic power?!" Mr. Sam, acting as referee, made sure he wasn't seeing things.
With Confusion Markers set up all over the field, both sides began a desperate struggle. Wrapped in a Confusion shield, Haunter darted around helplessly, feeling like a puppet on strings manipulated by Sabrina, unable to move freely.
After hiding in the void, Haunter accidentally touched one of the Confusion Markers. Instantly, blue psychic light flashed in Kirlia's red eyes. The moment Haunter touched the Marker, Kirlia's mind autonomously constructed a massive three-dimensional spatial image, treating Haunter as a chess piece leaping around a board.
Every possible position it could reach, the enemy's location, the best attack route, where the enemy might advance; everything appeared vividly in Kirlia's mind.
Terrance was certain: Kirlia's computational ability was no less than the best among Metagross or Alakazam. With a flash of light, Kirlia vanished and pressed Haunter hard, causing Sabrina to frown, unable to figure out a way to break the deadlock for the moment.
She could sense where the Confusion Markers were, but deliberately avoiding them was too unrealistic and would restrict her actions. Yet if she didn't avoid them, Kirlia would keep setting traps from a single point, quickly ensnaring Haunter.
Kirlia and Terrance both knew that Haunter's Confusion shield was a tough obstacle. Unless they could take Haunter down in one hit, it would be very hard to win this battle. They did have a way to win, but now was not the time to use it.
Meanwhile, Sabrina, without having figured out a way to break through, gave every command with great caution. Every time Haunter was attacked, she immediately reconstructed the Confusion shield, constantly reinforcing the barrier she placed on Haunter, trying to keep it absolutely safe.
"This can't go on… if we keep probing, the opponent will find an opening," Terrance thought to himself. Sabrina's psychic power was truly formidable. At this moment, she was like a hand outside the chessboard, constantly reversing Kirlia's attempts to corner Haunter.
Every time, Sabrina could sense Kirlia's Teleport location and where the moves would appear, allowing her to reduce Haunter's danger with precise orders to attack or evade. With their current approach, it was almost impossible for Terrance and Kirlia to one-shot Haunter.
Although he wanted to observe Sabrina's battle style, this process couldn't go on too long, or Sabrina would figure out his intentions.
At this moment, Kirlia's mind was calm, its expression composed, seemingly very collected. But from its actions, Terrance could sense Kirlia's desire to win, because Sabrina was a truly equal opponent, likely sparking Kirlia's interest. As both sides clashed with psychic power, Terrance suddenly felt a bit useless…
Both Haunter and himself felt unnecessary… The battle had clearly evolved into a duel between Kirlia and Sabrina. Could anything be stranger than that?
On the field, the battle had reached its climax. Four Kirlia surrounded Haunter, three of them being Double Team clones. Sabrina could easily see through this little trick and distinguish the real one, but from previous exchanges she knew that every clone was one of Kirlia's chess pieces, each marked with a Confusion Marker. Attacking or not attacking are both suboptimal strategies.
"Planning to attack?" Sabrina's psychic power surged as she watched the flow of the battle. She saw three Kirlia charging over from three directions at once, making her expression grow even more grave.
Which one should she attack? If she attacked the real body, Kirlia could instantly swap places with a Double Team. If she attacked a clone, the opening created would undoubtedly be seized by the opponent for a fierce counterattack.
It was a true dilemma. Sabrina was clearly struggling; with one clone it was manageable, but now with three, it was even more confusing for her.
"Sabrina must be getting quite anxious right now…" Mr. Sam looked at the flustered Haunter and could clearly sense Sabrina's helplessness. After all, Haunter's type and strength limited how much Sabrina could do.
At the same time, she'd run into a prodigy like Kirlia. Since the start of the battle, Haunter hadn't even touched Kirlia, but several Confusion shields had already been broken.
"This Terrance… from the start, he wasn't going all out, but observing Sabrina's battle style, wanting to use this advantageous battle to predict the direction of the next crucial battle," Mr. Sam thought. He realized that Terrance wanted to use this drawn-out battle to make the next match into a landslide victory!
