Onigashima, Wano Country Defense System's Central Control Room
Queen returned here with practiced ease and immediately spotted Setsuna and Zeraora inside the control room.
"How is it? The defense system I designed is pretty useful, right? Did those lapdogs of the World Government get taught a lesson?"
Queen was aware that CP0 had taken the opportunity to infiltrate while most of the forces had left Onigashima. At the moment, he was concerned about the effectiveness of his defensive equipment, after all, it directly concerned his personal safety.
"The surveillance system works fine. Those CP0 agents were detected as soon as they entered Wano Country. But the attack system, not so much. Your weapons are okay against regular people, but against those well-trained CP0 agents, they're useless.
They managed to break through your barrage and destroyed the weapons system. Those laser cannons were useful, I'll give you that, but in the end, someone still had to intervene directly.
Against high-end combat power, your system is still far from enough."
Zeraora answered Queen's question truthfully. He didn't have much of a problem with Queen and they got along decently. At most, he just played dumb whenever his wife caused trouble.
"I see. Well, that was kind of expected. Automated defensive weapons are still lacking, huh…"
This was something Queen had unearthed from the books of Ohara. It can automatically identify and attack enemies, but his skills are limited, so he couldn't replicate the original from back then.
All he could do was integrate the laser cannon he had developed from studying the Lineage Factor, eventually creating a similar system. He then modified a Rotom Generator so that Rotom could inhabit the two laser cannons.
It was precisely thanks to Rotom's intelligent system that the weapon had any effect at all.
Sitting back in his seat, Queen pulled open his drawer. Noticing the state of his documents, he sensed something was off.
"Why did you touch this logbook? It's not even needed for the defense system."
"Oh, that? Miss Yamato asked me to help find evidence of your crimes. She wanted a reason to take revenge on you."
Setsuna answered Queen directly, and her words instantly fried Queen's brain. He was stunned for a moment, unable to react.
"Wait! I can understand Miss Yamato wanting to do that, but why are you just telling me outright?!"
Queen had already anticipated that Yamato would want revenge; after all, he had previously pulled a move that nearly made both of them suffer.
The changes with the documents made him realize why Yamato had suddenly remembered the old incident on Fishman Island. But what he didn't understand was why Setsuna had said it outright.
"Well, you see, Miss Yamato said she changed her mind."
"Changed her mind?"
"Yeah. She said she doesn't want to look for a reason anymore. She plans to take a page from Mr. Kaido, just beat you up simply because she can't stand you."
Queen blinked. His expression turned a bit blank, and Hawkins' words once again echoed in his mind:
[Lord Queen, there's no escaping it. According to my divination, the disaster involving bloodshed still looms over you.]
That was the divination Hawkins had left him when Queen left him on another island. Looking at things now… it seemed scarily accurate.
"Wait, no! Then why did you tell me?!"
"Huh? Haven't you heard? Compared to the moment a slap lands on your face, the time you spend knowing it's going to land, but hasn't yet, is even scarier.
Good luck. I'll take the kids back now. Mandrell brought his daughter too, I'm going to check on the little one."
With that, Setsuna left with Meowna and Wolff, leaving only Zeraora and Queen behind.
"My condolences."
"I'm not dead yet! Seriously, can't Miss Yamato pick up some good habits?"
Queen rubbed his face in frustration. Kaido's knack for being unreasonable was legendary, once he set his mind on something, there were basically no people who could stop him.
Originally, Yamato had been trying to come up with a reason, but after seeing Kaido, it was like she suddenly had a revelation.
"You brought this disaster upon yourself, now deal with it. You're the one who tried to go down with her during the war, remember?"
"How do you know about that?"
That incident should have been known only to Yamato. Now that it came from Zeraora's mouth, Queen felt something was off.
"Setsuna told me. Apparently, they have a little group chat just for dealing with you. Shayna's probably in it too. Don't worry, you're not gonna die."
"That's not the least bit comforting to hear…"
Slumping into his chair like a deflated balloon, Queen began contemplating the future, but no matter how he looked at it, Hawkins' ability was crucial to him.
Before he even realized it, Queen found that he had grown somewhat dependent on this rookie who hadn't even officially joined yet.
"Whatever, I'll deal with it when the time comes. Thinking about it won't help. Speaking of which, how did those CP0 get in? Isn't that monster Zunesha outside? Plus Gyarados and Mareanie, and in the skies, there's Corviknight and Dragonite. You're telling me they actually broke past all these defenses?"
"They released a few ships as decoys to draw the attention of Gyarados and Mareanie. Zunesha didn't notice them either.
And apparently, some of them are Devil Fruit users. They used dense fog to obscure visibility, and then used Geppo to vault over the wall and sneak in."
As Zeraora spoke, he pressed a few buttons on the monitoring equipment, pulling up several surveillance feeds.
"Gotta admit, your surveillance setup is thorough. Even though they made it into Wano Country, every move they made was being watched.
As for their target… it's still you. And their objective is very clear: your experiment results."
"You didn't make a move yourself?"
"Those few weren't worth it. It was a good chance to test your defense system and see how alert the people of Wano Country are. You'll understand when you see it for yourself."
With a wave of his hand, the footage on the monitors zoomed in, and Queen finally saw what had really happened in Wano Country.
After a small squad of CP0 agents infiltrated Wano, they split up, and the first thing they did was steal clothes.
CP0 uniforms were too conspicuous; anyone could tell something was off. To better blend in, they chose to change into outfits resembling those of the locals.
Logically speaking, with Wano Country's population in the millions, it should've been impossible for everyone to recognize one another. As long as they didn't talk too much, their cover shouldn't have been blown.
Unfortunately for them, they had no idea that the isolated Wano Country had a unique identity system.
The CP0 agent who slipped into town ran into a patrol squad from the Shinsengumi, and because he couldn't present an identity card or recite a registration number, he was quickly exposed after just a few questions, drawing a large number of samurai into pursuit.
Another CP0 agent, however, managed to locate a laboratory. On the door, he saw a recessed shape resembling a palm print.
Based on his experience, this CP0 agent assumed it was a special door that required palm print to open. So instead of trying the front, he started searching around the side for another way in.
"Muhahaha, that guy totally fell for it. He'd never imagine, that thing isn't even a fingerprint lock! The correct way to open the door… is to just push really hard!"
