Chapter 29 - Re: That Time My Mother Got Turned into a Monster! – Chapter Twenty-Eight

Constance followed me closely as I, in turn, trailed behind Mother Superior. Soon, we were in her office, where Sister Diane was waiting with my Mum. Constance and I were silent, wondering what this was all about.

"Mother Superior would like to see you, Miss Constance," Sister Diane said.

Constance and I looked at each other, and I swallowed awkwardly. "Oh. Alright," I said, feeling tense.

I let out a sigh, trying to stay calm and composed. But I couldn't help but feel embarrassed at having to talk about such intimate details with an attractive young woman. Sister Diane nodded and stood aside, and Constance and I entered the office. Mother Superior was seated at her desk and greeted us with a smile.

"I-I…," my voice trailed off as I struggled to find the right words to say. What could I say that wouldn't upset both of them? "It's okay, Mum. Constance is a friend, like June," I whispered.

Mother Superior explained, "Now, you'll begin crafting two Medallions of the Veil. As you have two monsters imprinted, you shall need to fashion each one a little differently. I will help with your Mother, Evangeline and Sister Diane will help with Constance," Mother Superior explained.

She continued, "The medallions are made up of two sections: the inner core and the outer shell. The inner core is made out of a particular rare metal found solely in the Veil. It is really difficult to work with and only a few have the expertise to get it right. The outer shell is manufactured from a more commonplace metal, however it requires powerful enchantment magic to guard the inner core. Casting the enchantment demands great skill and knowledge as each monster requires a unique and very complex enchantment," Mother Superior Euphemia said.

"Once the medallions are complete, you will need to imprint them with the souls of your monsters. This is a very dangerous process, and it must be done with great care. If anything goes wrong, you could lose your soul, or even your life," the Mother said. "Are you ready to begin?"

"Yes, let's begin Mother Superior…," I answered.

I sat at the table, joining Sister Diane, Mother Superior Euphemia, and several other Sisters as they began preparing my medallion. In front of us, the necessary materials lay spread out. After observing how the Sisters crafted my medallion, I now understand why it was vital to watch meticulously and carefully as I contemplated creating one of these powerful magical objects for the first time. My hands trembled as I nervously handled the precious metal, feeling its power. It was so beautiful and ethereal, unlike anything I had ever seen. My heart raced as I began to work on creating the medallion.

At first, I thought I understood how the medallion was constructed, but I soon realized I was entirely wrong when they began to work. It was a tremendously complex and intricate procedure, and I marveled at the Sisters' skill. I had never seen anything like this before, and it took much of my attention just to follow along. It was essential to place each stone accurately, and the incantations needed to be adequately whispered, or it could lead to disastrous results if they were misplaced. I marveled at the precision and care they expended, and I felt a hint of excitement bubbling within me. With each successful step, my medallion drew closer to completion. It was unlike anything I had ever seen or imagined, and I felt fortunate to witness such craftsmanship. The Sisters were true artists, and their commitment to their craft was something to admire.

Even the slightest mistake during the creation of a medallion could have devastating repercussions. I had known this in theory, but now that I had seen it in action, it bore a much greater weight in my mind. I was stunned by the Sisters' skill and dedication as they worked diligently to produce my medallion. As I watched, I suddenly realized why it had been imperative for me to observe their work. My medallion was a complex and precious item: it had to be handled carefully and crafted expertly. I felt a deep sense of gratitude towards the Sisters.

Attempting to recall the steps involved in the medallion's restoration, Sister Diane kindly offered instructions and guidance as she allowed me to participate in the process personally. Mother Euphemia's watchful eyes never left the work being done and assisted whenever necessary. Ultimately, I felt confident I had absorbed the knowledge needed to restore other medallions. I also greatly thank them for teaching me such a delicate and valuable skill.

As the skilled nuns delicately aided me in crafting my Medallion, I intently watched their practiced movements, fully comprehending the importance of observing the process. I accidentally dropped the medallion at one point, and my heart sank. However, Sister Diane and Mother Euphemia remained calm, and they worked to repair the medallion, ensuring that my mistake didn't hinder our work. It was indeed a team effort. This training was designed to equip me with the necessary skills to repair my Medallion and those belonging to my companion monsters while in the field.

Sister Diane instructed me patiently, allowing me to actively take part in the process. With Mother Euphemia providing additional assistance when needed, the entire process became a learning experience. They taught me the right way to handle and repair the medallions, and I was grateful for the opportunity to expand my knowledge. It was essential to learn as much as possible about the medallions, and they were willing to spend as long as it took to ensure I understood the procedure correctly.

I was highly grateful for the patience and guidance offered by Sister Rachel. She took the time to explain each detail clearly and concisely, ensuring I could understand it. At the same time, Mother Euphemia was always nearby, watching closely and offering helpful suggestions whenever possible. As I worked, I felt a deep appreciation for everyone working together to make the process go as smoothly as possible. My only wish was to finish it as quickly as possible.

In the field, I would be responsible for any repairs that might be necessary, including recharging a drained medallion. This applied not only to revitalizing a drained medallion but to the maintenance and repair of my own and my companion monsters. Constance and Mother observed carefully as I crafted the totem, which would allow us to restore the medallion's power. I knew this was an important task, and I worked with great focus and dedication to ensure everything worked flawlessly. I had to be able to repair my own medallion and those of my companions, and this training would allow me to do so in the field when necessary. I felt a sense of pride and responsibility as I worked, knowing that we would rely on this totem to survive in the wilderness. I was determined to create an immaculate piece of work.

As the artifacts I crafted became more complete, the purpose of the medallion's function began flowing throughout my body. I could feel a tangible change in the connection we shared. It grew more substantial, robust, and potent, becoming dense and unmoving. With each passing moment, I felt the bond forging between Constance and my Mother develop much more vigorously and powerfully the closer I came to completing each new creation. It began to take on its own existence, independent of the items that we had created. I could feel the weight of this bond as if it were trying to draw me in closer. I could sense the energy I had imbued into each artifact and feel its power and vitality. I could tell that the artifacts were taking shape and that I was creating something unique.

It was as if the items were not only physical objects but a manifestation of our affection for each other. It was the kind of thing that could not be measured or expressed in words, but I knew that every addition to the collection of artifacts we had crafted was making our connection that much more powerful. The relationship between us and the artifacts was becoming something more than just a means to an end. It was an intense feeling that filled my entire being, an intense feeling that was a part of me. I had never felt anything like it before, and I knew that it was something special. It was beginning to transcend mere utility and become something more profound. Before I knew it, the medallion was ready and glowed with beautiful light. I felt my heart beating nervously as it seemed this might be the answer we had been searching for.

Mother Superior Euphemia stood up, clasping her hands together.

"It is my honor, young von Yeager, to congratulate you on constructing your first Medallions of the Veil for Evangeline and Constance. You have exceeded my expectations!" Mother Superior Euphemia said, smiling.

Sister Diane, Sister Rachel, and the other Sisters stand together and bow. Sister Rachel is the first to speak after Mother Superior Euphemia.

"Our Mother Superior Euphemia is correct. Indeed, this was also a test, and you are among only a few who have had the fortune to pass on your first try. I believe Evander, you, and Elara are destined for great deeds, as it is rare for a newly formed Exorcist team to pass to such a stunning degree," she said as if she was pleased.

However, I noticed Sister Rachel blushing as if remembering our conversation from earlier. Not wanting to embarrass her, I nod.

"Thank you, Mother Superior Euphemia and Sister Rachel!" I said, blushing.

Mother Superior Euphemia seems to notice my blushing.

"Oh...Oh my, have we said something to make you uncomfortable?" Mother Superior Euphemia questioned, blushing as well.

"Yes, do tell, Mr. von Yeager? We would not want to cause discomfort!" Sister Diane said, stepping forward. Her breast jiggle as she does, catching my attention, but I keep my head in the nod position to conceal my gaze.

Suddenly, Sister Rachel steps forward and bows; as she does, it seems her bounteous breasts threaten to burst from her low-cut dress.

"Excuse young Adam von Yeager, and he is simply tired from his mission from last night. He is not used to such praise," Sister Rachel exclaimed as her cheeks turned red.

It's clear she knows why I am blushing and is covering for me. A growl from behind jolts me out of my bewildered state. I turn around to see my Mother, Eveangline, and Constance face to face, merely feet from one another. The golden-hair lioness's cheeks are as red as Sister Rachels as she growls with her mouth open, revealing her teeth. But that wasn't what caught my attention; no, it was not. My mouth was agape because both women appeared as if they were human.
