Chapter 24 - Skills

The most dangerous one being curse magic as unlike other two it's not an attack magic but more of a Dark Charm that is used to implicit pain and suffering on an individual, and the only one who can cure a high-level curse is the one who has Healing magic.

'Man, the power levels in this world are so complicated, nor do I have a rare sub-element I also have an ultra-rare white element too well I won't complain because this will potentially save my life in the future and knowing that Sumire has healing magic the only defense against curses, the pope will definitely treasure her, I have to protect Sumire too.'

"So, we just have to develop our magic to overthrow the demon king I guess with so many people with rare elements at our side we can easily do that, right?"

After thinking for a while Agawa asked, in response the pope made a difficult expression.

"What… am I wrong?"

"Instead of answering you Great Hero, let me ask you a question what do you think is Sir William and Madam Joan magical aptitudes"

"Huhh... I mean they both are the strongest people of this nation right."

"Yes, you are correct they both have an unfathomable strength enough for them to be two of the strongest people in the Kingdom."

"Then shouldn't their magical aptitudes be of rare elements, and they should have more than one element to boost right"

To this pope shook his head in denial.

"No, Great Hero, Sir William has a wind and fire element whereas Madam Joan have only one rare element"

To this revelation everyone made a confused face. They didn't know what to make of it. They all thought maybe they were just that strong but no matter what they couldn't say it out loud because they knew there is one more factor or maybe the only factor that determines the foundation of an individual in this world.

"Then is there something else that determines one's strength"

"Yes, Great Hero those are what we call SKILLS"

Skills, a word back on earth which means the ability to use one's knowledge effectively and readily in execution or performance, is the reality of this world here in a far more supernatural way, where everyone is born with mana However not everyone is born with a Skill. Skills are determined at random from birth and sometimes they are not even useful at all towards the user, but nevertheless they are the deciding factor in this world, for instance if two people are trying to learn martial arts and one of them have the martial arts skill then the time taken for the one who has the skill is one tenth to the time taken for someone who don't have the generic skill to learn martial arts, if you are born with a right set of skills, yours future is potentially Limitless. Hence, the Reason the Hero is so valued in this world, after all who else other than a hero can have broken skills.

However, as said before, not everyone is born with skills roughly half the population in this Kingdom is born with some skill, and they were assigned skills randomly at birth. There were many skills that didn't seem to have any practical uses like dishwashing, cross-dressing, speedy dressing to name a few, Skills themselves are differentiate between in five Ranks they are,

S Rank, A Rank, B Rank, C Rank, D Rank Skills.

The likelihood of being given a skill differed depending on the rank. Theoretically, it was possible to be born with a skill from every rank. But the odds of getting an S-Rank skill alone were one in ten million, that means the probability of being born with a skill from all five ranks or even possessing two S-Rank skills was…

…one in hundred million.
