Chapter 282 - Compassion for the Fairer Sex

After summoning four more creatures, Calvin decided to stop prolonging the battle. It was time for a swift victory to secure the win.

Kurama was the first to strike. Raising its right paw, it gathered a swirling mass of magic energy in its palm, forming a sizeable spinning sphere resembling a small tornado, with sharp, shuriken-like edges protruding from its sides.

"Rasenshuriken!"

Kurama hurled the Rasenshuriken forward, the sphere spinning rapidly and producing a sharp, slicing sound. The sheer speed of the attack made Minerva and the others feel dread, knowing that this was not an attack they could underestimate.

Orga reacted first, once again unleashing his dark God Slayer's Lightning. Rufus followed up quickly, combining fire and wind magic to support Orga's attack.

The collision of the three different magics triggered a massive explosion. Kurama's Rasenshuriken expanded instantly, creating a gigantic vortex of destructive magic that could obliterate everything within it. The expanding vortex caused the air to spin violently, making it feel like everything within the area would be torn apart.

Thankfully, Orga and Rufus had triggered the explosion early, preventing the attack from getting too close. Had it reached them, escape would have been nearly impossible.

The vortex of destruction slowly dissipated, leaving behind a massive crater as if a meteor had struck. The sight was terrifying.

In the past, Calvin would never have had Kurama unleash such a straightforward attack. He would have waited for an opening, but now, with additional summoned creatures to support him, he used such a decisive move as bait to create an opportunity.

Anyone who knew Calvin's thoughts would be shocked by his audacity—using a move with such high magic consumption as mere bait was impressive. This technique could efficiently serve as a final blow in any other fight.

Meanwhile, Minerva had been on guard the entire time, anticipating attacks from Calvin's other summons. Her caution was justified, but sometimes, even when you expect something, you cannot stop it.

Calvin, fully aware of Minerva's tricky magic, targeted her directly. He sent Zanpakuto, Marco, and Dark Magician to attack her together. Calvin viewed her magic as the most troublesome of the group.

However, as troublesome as her magic was, it wasn't unbeatable. Marco and Dark Magician coordinated their attacks perfectly, one close and one from a distance, leaving her little room to counter.

Minerva's eyes narrowed as she muttered an incantation, surrounding herself with strange, pulsating magical energy.

Suddenly, an explosion rocked the area, engulfing Marco and causing him to vanish.

"Oh, the Eighteen Battle Gods of Erebus?" Calvin said in surprise. He recalled that this magic was rare and difficult to master, though undeniably powerful.

"Don't underestimate me!" Minerva sneered, satisfied with having taken down one of Calvin's summons. However, her moment of pride quickly faded as Calvin showed no reaction to Marco's loss. The Dark Magician continued his relentless assault, forcing Minerva back on the defensive.

She cursed under her breath, but her confidence didn't waver. Despite the strength of the Dark Magician's attack, she felt it wasn't impossible to handle. She again began to summon the strange energy to block the incoming strike.

But as she focused all her attention on defending against the Dark Magician and keeping an eye on Zanpakuto, everything around her shattered like glass.

This scene was eerily familiar. It reminded her of what happened to Jura on the first day. In the corner of her eye, she noticed Zanpakuto smiling gently, holding a green-handled katana.

"An illusion? Is this guy Mistgun?" In that instant, Minerva realised everything. The one who defeated Jura had been one of Calvin's summoned creatures, and she had fallen victim to illusion magic. Understanding how Jura had been defeated, she knew that a lethal strike was coming her way, one that she wouldn't be able to dodge or block.

At that moment, for the first time, she desperately wished for help from her comrades.

A heavy punch struck her in the back, knocking her breathless. Minerva screamed in pain, blood spilling from her mouth as her body buckled forward. The pain was so intense she thought her spine might be broken. Before she could fully register the agony, Marco followed up with a kick to her stomach, and her head was struck from behind.

There was no way a young woman could endure such a brutal assault. Minerva promptly lost consciousness.

Calvin's voice was cold as he stood over her unconscious body. "I spared you the torture that Lucy endured. Consider yourself lucky."

With Minerva down, Fairy Tail gained another five points, bringing their score to a staggering 67.

"Lady Minerva!" Orga and Rufus cried out in shock. They wanted to help her, but Gaia, the Fierce Knight, had kept them occupied. And even then, they had never imagined that Minerva, the strongest mage of Sabertooth, would be taken down in less than a minute.

But there was no time to worry about Minerva. After her defeat, Calvin's five summoned creatures surrounded Orga and Rufus.

Cold sweat ran down Orga's face as he stammered, "Rufus, you can erase other people's magic, right?"

Rufus smiled bitterly. "I wish it were that easy. Not all magic can be erased. These summoned creatures are shrouded in mystery—I can't even understand them, let alone erase them."

Calvin wasn't interested in their conversation and ordered his summons to attack.

Rufus had hoped to replicate Calvin's Susanoo, just as he had tried to copy his Black Coffin spell on the first day, but the amount of magic required was far too immense. He could barely summon a fragment of it and certainly not fast enough to make a difference.

Unsurprisingly, Orga and Rufus soon followed Minerva's fate, falling under the combined assault of Calvin's summoned beasts.

This left only Sabertooth's Sting and Rogue, who had no idea what was happening to their comrades. They were too busy dealing with the relentless onslaught of the Blue-Eyes White Dragon.

Sting realised that they couldn't win this fight. Desperate for a solution, he came up with a bold idea.

What if he ate the Blue-Eyes White Dragon?

After all, the dragon was made of light-based magic. In theory, he should be able to consume it. The only issue was figuring out how to take a bite out of something so massive.

Before he could formulate a plan, the dragon's claws were upon him again. In a flash, Sting thought of his cat companion, Lector, and gritted his teeth.

He had no choice but to go for it.

Instead of dodging as he had been, Sting seized an opportunity, grabbing the dragon's massive arm as it struck. The force of the impact caused him to cough up blood, but he bit down on the dragon's arm, determined to consume its light magic.

The moment his teeth sank in, he was met with intense pain. The dragon's scales were impossibly hard, and worse yet; the magic wasn't light-based—it had turned dark!

Sting's mind raced in confusion. The Blue-Eyes White Dragon, which had once radiated pure light magic, had transformed. Its wings, now black with white edges, looked like those of a terrifying bat. Once regal and majestic, its head was now clad in dark metal, exuding an aura of ruthless malice.

This was one of the Blue-Eyes White Dragon's alternate forms: Sin Blue-Eyes White Dragon.
