Chapter 396 - Chapter 396: Self Reflection

It wasn't long before he would reach his friends, his spring-like hands grabbing ahold of whatever branch is nearby to slingshot himself into the group, with Solomon creating a barrier to catch the monstrous child as he'd de-fusion himself. Despite the small chuckle he gave, letting them try to not worry as much about his difficulty, the boys knew that he was fighting for his life out there. The Monstrous Stolas would be quick on extending its many hands and 'climb' the air, using stars as a solid structure to make its way up, as Harvard would cast his sigil again and have Fleisher act as its cost, watching the cartoonish nightmare bow its head as an apology, before cackling once more and ascending up to the green marking. "Okay... Now what? We go in that battle, we're dead." Solomon asked, being blunt with his words, as he realized what they are now, even with such diverse options, may not be enough against their strongest hunters in their personal army.

Such a thought to try and tip the odds in their own favor would come quick as Stolas would snap his talon-like fingers. "Mirror Ritual!"

The two boys would raise an eyebrow in confusion, yet Harvard would simply take out a card from his sleeve as the monster began to form, Rubix being brought out to act as their personal defense, timing it whilst his lesser monsters began to come back, most likely after delivering their message during such a scuffle. Such a card he showed them depicted a mirror, one that had a proper reflection of the boys as he held it out. "This thingy! Remember what I said in that Chapel? This is the spell that can do it!" He'd quickly toss the card into the belly of Rubix as it was forming, a light shining in its body, as the boy was quick in shifting its positions, using his hands again as if he was solving such a cube, each flick making it smaller and smaller. Eventually it would be at a proper size, a hatch that lets the children sink in if need be. "Ok! Hop in!"

Solomon, however, would pause the group. "Hang on a second. How do we know we're not gonna get shot down while we're trying to train? Considering they were itching to kill us, they can jump us while we're occupied. Say, for example, killing your Monster, and as a result, killing us in the process?"

Harvard would shake his head as he'd demonstrate his claim, casting Lemegeton and firing a shot into Rubix. The monster was quick on opening two squares, allowing it to dodge the bullet with its entrance and exit. "Even if its one big shape, it's sentient! It's not gonna let itself get hit anytime soon. Plus, I got my lesser monsters for extra protection!" He'd snap his fingers as he allowed the four to weaponize the air, letting the cube float upwards, each atmosphere implanted as a layer to protect the beast further, as Harvard shot again to demonstrate the atmosphere. Kyu's would heat it up, while Nue's would lower the gravitational pull, making the shot slower. Neko's would intensify it, its own personal bullet, increasing the pressure and crushing the shot into its energy components, scattering around like a personal belt of asteroids. Lastly, Yata's acts as the proper barrier, tanking the smaller, damaged parts with minimal effort.

Thermosphere, Exosphere, Troposphere, Stratosphere.

Harvard would once again signal for the others to hop in, his body able to phase through, his permission granted by the lesser monsters. Once all four reached, they slipped through their personal hatch and interacted with the ritual itself. As the four boys descended, two others would be watching over, spying on them. Draped in the black cloth, the signature fabric for the Shadow Mages, one would bite into their own finger as the blood began to leak. "So, they're going to be occupied with their little 'training'?" One asked, a thick accent out of her mouth, visible red lips underneath the shadow that conceals her face. "It may be a bit risky, but I do believe that if such a procedure succeeds, we have a proper head start against such annihilation."

"Ahhh....I dunno, Mom." The other questioned, his back more hunched, his legs jittery underneath the fabric. "They're still strong, even without their protection, right? Not to mention that big... THING is out and about. We'd be dead weight if we screw this up, won't we?" His nervous tick was audible in his voice, wincing a bit as he'd feel such potent energy out from the beast.

The woman hidden within her robes was quick on comforting the lesser, kneeling herself down and petting him across his garbs. "Oh, do not worry yourself, my boy. You do not need to fear such magic from harming you. You have all the tools you need to best them."

"B-but what if it isn't enough?! I don't want you to struggle while I-"

"It will! You just need more confidence in yourself. Your father has said it best: You have the potential to become one of the stronger mages in our side of his kingdom, possibly even stronger than him! You just need to be brave, my boy. Trust in your own skills. Your instincts. That is what makes someone a true Caster." She'd brush her head against his, a small peck on his forehead, as she raised herself. "Plus, we have your gifts with us! We have ourselves a safety net in case things do become dire." She'd prepare her blood to shift, forming into a bow and arrow, as it tries to take aim for Tsukiya's head. "Just be confident, my boy. Be confident, and watch as your magic can outmatch theirs in an instant."

Fwip!!

Her shot was fired, a javelin made from her blood, as it flies into the area, prompting Envy to catch the arrow with his body.

SHIKK!!!

Stabbed straight through his chest, the miasma melding with the plasma. His gaze was left towards the two that dared to strike while they were vulnerable.
