Chapter 2468 - -2368- The intercepted attacks

That day, all of Uruk was fully mobilized.

To repel the joint offensive of the Three Goddess Alliance, by decree of King Gilgamesh, Uruk began executing strategic redeployments.

First, in preparation for the coming war, the citizens were ordered to accelerate weapon production, and military units were being reassigned and dispatched.

For instance, due to the relatively safer status of the East and West Gates, most of the soldiers stationed there were relocated and concentrated at the South Gate, where a heavily fortified line of defense was established to confront the enemy forces approaching through the southern jungle.

This sector was placed entirely under the command of Ushiwakamaru and Benkei, who, after leaving the Divine Tower, proceeded directly to the South Gate to begin preparations.

Gilgamesh assigned all three thousand soldiers under his command to them, allowing them to march upon the South Gate with an awe-inspiring display of force.

Meanwhile, Oda Nobunaga and Okita Soji likewise set out—this time for the northern front against the Magical Beasts.

Since that battlefield had already endured over half a year of defensive warfare, there was no need to establish new fortifications—they could simply continue using the existing ones, saving considerable effort.

Of course, Merlin also made his way to the Ritual Grounds, carrying Gilgamesh's royal decree, and began deploying barriers throughout Uruk.

As a result, petals continuously drifted through the skies above Uruk that day, painting a scene as breathtaking as it was serene.

Naturally, Rozen did not idle either. After returning to the Embassy with the Holy Grail, he began utilizing its mana to perform large-scale support operations.

"Summon Golem!"

"Summon Monster!"

"Summon Dragonkind!"

Rozen consecutively activated multiple summoning spells, and magic circles unfolded throughout every corner of Uruk.

From them, various magical creatures began to emerge.

Some were enormous dragons, roaring skyward.

Some were terrifying monsters wielding weapons.

Some were iron-willed golems forged of steel and stone.

Some were malevolent specters and yokai, looking as savage as nightmares incarnate.

These magical creatures appeared one after another throughout Uruk. Their howls and roars shook the heavens, startling the citizens into near panic.

With the Holy Grail's mana, Rozen summoned a full four hundred thousand familiars—great and small, strong and weak—turning Uruk into an unprecedented den of magical beasts.

However, these familiars quickly departed the city in masses. Some advanced toward the South Gate, others to the northern front, providing reinforcements across every battlefield.

The golems and various yokai were deployed to the northern front to be commanded by Nobunaga and Okita.

The dragons and monsters were sent to the South Gate, to be commanded by Ushiwakamaru and Benkei.

Each battlefield was bolstered by over 100,000 familiars. With such might, even the armies of the Beast Goddess and the Jungle Goddess could be not only repelled but potentially counterattacked.

Rozen also left a portion of familiars behind in Uruk to act as laborers—either working in weapon forges or transporting vital supplies to the frontlines—greatly reducing the strain on Uruk's manpower and giving Gilgamesh more operational freedom.

The mana upkeep of these familiars was entirely supplied by the Holy Grail, allowing Rozen to conserve his own energy while channeling the Grail's surplus to nurture his Magic Circuits, accelerating their restoration to a satisfying degree.

Thus, by around midday, Uruk engaged the first wave of enemy forces.

Their opponent: the Magical Beasts from the north.

The beasts charged like a stampede of wild animals, eventually crashing into the northern front and engaging in fierce combat.

At first, defending against the Magical Beasts cost the northern line significant casualties and energy.

But under Nobunaga's command and Okita's valiant combat, the north wall successfully held the line—until Rozen's reinforcements arrived in the afternoon, enabling a swift counteroffensive that drove the Magical Beasts back.

Though their numbers far surpassed past incursions—ranging from tens to hundreds of thousands—Rozen had dispatched nearly 200,000 familiars to the north.

With sheer numerical superiority, defeat was not an option.

Moreover, the familiars deployed to the north were primarily golems and high-grade yokai.

Most Magical Beasts couldn't even breach a golem's tough body. The stronger ones that could were quickly entangled and shredded by the yokai, leaving no hope of pushing the frontlines further.

On the southern front, the battle began just as Rozen had predicted—before nightfall.

The forces emerging from the jungle were led by Dragonkind—specifically, Feathered Serpent Wyverns.

The Feathered Serpent Wyvern legion arrived at the South Gate by dusk, followed closely by all manner of beastmen—lizardfolk, leopardmen, and more—a complete menagerie.

Although smaller in scale than the northern army, and with beastmen being less threatening—the average beastman was on par with a Uldim-class beast, making them a relatively minor concern—the true threat lay with the Feathered Serpent Wyverns.

These Cretaceous-period Dragonkind, alive since 65 million years ago, possessed power on par with phantasmic beasts, and possibly even divine beasts.

To Servants, they were formidable opponents. To humans, they were essentially unbeatable.

Their danger rivaled even that of Ugallu or Basmu, and their numbers were considerable. Two Servants and 3,000 soldiers alone could never have withstood them.

Thankfully, Rozen had foreseen this, and thus the forces he dispatched to the South Gate included not only a monstrous army from Aincrad to deal with the beastmen, but also true dragon familiars, hailed as the strongest among phantasmal species.

These true dragons clashed with the Feathered Serpent Wyverns in the skies above the South Gate.

The ferocity of that battle far exceeded even the northern front.

With the dragons' support, the southern assault was held off. The vanguard of the enemy army was crushed by Ushiwakamaru's forces, forcing the southern invaders to retreat.

Victory was reported from both northern and southern fronts, to the joy of many.

However—

After night fell, as predicted, a death legion from the northeast began to rise from the land.

They bypassed the northern front and attacked Uruk from the North Gate. Their numbers were staggering—easily exceeding several hundred thousand, possibly reaching one million.

Although over 90% of these undead were fragile skeleton soldiers, so weak that ordinary humans could smash several of them with axes, the sheer scale of their numbers still posed a terrifying threat.

Fortunately, these undead creatures lacked intelligence.

Especially the skeletons, which had no self-awareness and functioned more like puppet-like foot soldiers.

They were utterly disoriented by the barriers cast by Merlin, the Magus of Flowers, and couldn't even breach Uruk's walls.

Thus, the onslaught of the Three Goddess Alliance was perfectly repelled by Uruk.

But—

It was on the second day that problems finally arose.
