The sun was shining over the beach side in the distance, making the ocean turn a bright blue and gold...aaaah, the joys of living on an island nation are boundless. (Mom and Dad hadn't come back yet, sick animals probably bought a hotel room or something...gross.) I quickly prepared for school and ran off It was finally sports day. As I ran, I saw the Comet Road community, Ms Jackson watering her plants, Mr Suzuki driving to work in his beloved Toyota, and Sir Fowst walking his noble dog down to the park. This Island may be part of Japan, but it's filled to the brim with all sorts of races, religions, and refugees, even, that it's impossible not to learn about all of them. It's like Okina Island is a correlation of all that makes Earth unique. Once I reached the boys' campus, I walked into Mr Lee's class, "Late again, Mr Kara-no-goki."
After classes, we went onto the field for lunchtime.
All the boys had called for a meeting about today's game
"Guys, we gotta team up for today's dodgeball game, I ain't got no chance alone man," said Jason.
"What, you scared of the girls or something, hahahaha. You're like seven days, man, weak," answered Niyuki.
"What does that mean?"
"Don't worry about it, Jack, and Niyuki, stop making fun of him." I snapped. "He's right to be concerned about the girls; we've only ever met the full class a few times, and at best we only know a few of their misos. The same can be said for them, so they will be on high alert. We only have one chance of winning."
All the boys instantly understood as we all gave each other an evil grin. First up were Marge, Monty, Niyuki, and Jackson to distract the teachers who might try and walk to the office on the fifth floor. Those four can ramble for hours. Next up was Hopsin as transport, he grabbed Hibiki and I. Using his High jump miso, he lifted us to the office window.
"Now Hibiki, do your thing."
He began scanning the Miso registry with his eyes and creating copies from his chest while I kept a lookout. "Liam, I'm done." He jumped out the window, and Hopsin caught him while I teleported to the guys to let them know we are done.
As we looked through the registry, we realized that all the girls' misos had developed a great deal from last time; in fact, some are combat level now. Like Anuko's Color change can now help her camouflage perfectly, or Aiko, her glamour miso can be used as a flash grenade. Last time I saw her use it, she could only sparkle like glitter. "Boys, we are gonna have one hella time fighting the girls."
As the bell rang, we paired up as Mr Lee led us to the girls' campus. It wasn't too far, so walking didn't bother us too much. About ten minutes later, the girls' Castle came into view, yes, I said Castle, you see the girls' campus was the original school, most of us boys moved to Okina Island just a few months ago, so our campus is relatively new and small. Come to think of it, in our class, only I was born here, while others have been here for ten months or less. The girls' castle was beautiful, it had banners with The Demon Head Crest on them, stained glass windows in some areas, while others had windows just as elegant, the courtyard had a beautiful mini maze garden with ankle-high hedging and a fountain with a corrupted angle statue. While we walked over the school bridge and through the mini hedge maze, Aiko, Juliana, and Hida waved at me from their classroom window.
Aiko's black with red-highlighted hair was dazzling....as you'll notice I have a thing for cool hair, so ya. She had a small but round face, almost childlike, with an African yellow brown skin and golden hair. As we walked in, she came sprinting down the hallway.
"LIAM!" Aiko jumped onto me, hugging me.
"Nice to see you to Aiko."
"Sup, Liam," said Juliana with her face buried in her phone and as nonchalant as ever. They were twins, but their personalities were different shades of brat. One thought of social media as if it's an important organ, while the other was as snobby as snobby can be....but still I loved them both, they are probably the only ones that really understand my life...most of it anyway. To keep out confusion, Juliana got opposite highlights to her twin, her hair was red with black highlights, and let's say she had a few more assets than her sister....you know what I'm talking about.
"Hey, where's Hida? Is she studying again?"
"Yaaaa." They both sighed in unison.
Then Aiko started, "She said she's not interested in the game, so she wants to be left alone. It's fine, we don't need her."
"Well, I'll just have to grab her, won't I?" I said as I walked to her class.
"Liam, you're not supposed to break from the group. Besides, the girl won't budge."
I simply waved as I left. Upon reaching her classroom, I saw Hida reading a book on mechanical engineering.
"Hey, grease monkey, how are you?" I said cheerfully.
"Well, if it isn't Captain Delayed, bringer of tardy sauce, master of the postponed and hero of the belated."
"I'll have you know I came here on time."
"Buuut...and I'm just guessing here...you were late to get to school this morning." I sighed. "Exactly."
"Anyway, let's go, we've got a tournament to win."
"I'm not going, I wanna practice my crafting miso."
"But physical practice is much more efficient. Come on, do the boring stuff at home." I said while pulling her.
"Why do you want me there so bad? You could easily win alone."
"Because it's more fun with you. I want you there and that's final."
"Damn your pushy, I still don't want to."
"Fine, I'll buy you ice cream if you go." "...you're despicable. You know that ice cream is my weakness. Fine, but only go if you help me with one of my formulas for the hydraulics in my mechanical scythe project. I can't figure out the proportions."
After about an hour, we arrived at the school gym...well mini indoor stadium would be more accurate. The boys sat together, some with ball-shaped imprints on their faces, and Aiko laughing hysterically along with five other girls, (looks like they still lost.)
"You actually managed to convince her to come...color me impressed," said Juliana as she walked to us along with another girl. She was short but a little stocky and had short black and pink hair combed over one side and shaved off the other. It was Terra Isle. She walked up it Hida and gave her a high five like a secret handshake.
"So you decided to join us, Hida. Good, we could use another member. Aiko has been on a war path, insulating my new earrings, torturing the boys since they arrived, and now she wants to take you down, Liam." She says with glee.
"Well then, I guess I'll have to take her down first. I'll give her a lesson in humility. I'll need a team, tho, Hida, Terra, Juliana...you guys in?"
"Yah," they said in unison.
As we walk onto the court, Aiko gave a devilish grin and told two girls to move off the court...a three-on-four battle, and they say I'm cocky....but then again, Aiko always has a reason for her actions. The teacher recited the added rules.
" This will be a free battle, in other words, the use of miso's are allowed, but only to temporarily manipulate the ball or move out of the way. However, catching the ball with your miso or attacking an enemy directly using your miso is strictly prohibited; otherwise, the rules of dodgeball stay the same. Ready...GO!"
"Time to shine, GLAMOUR FLAIR!" Aiko said as her skin sparked to the point of blinding. As the light died down, we noticed something, the balls we gone. We looked at Aiko's team, but their hands we empty.
"DAMN IT, watch out, it's Anuko's miso, she recolored the balls to camouflage them. They're probably going to use surprise attacks to pick us off, find the balls, and we can take'em down," I ordered quickly.
"It's too late, Liam," said Aiko ever so smugly as she and the other girls began walking around their courtside to confuse us. It was almost hypnotic.
" Though we started, you've already exposed your body," said Mika
"Wasted your time," said Anuko
"Exhausted your judgment," said Aiko
"Now, who will attack you first?" They said in perfect unison.
"Me."
"Me."
"Or me"
"You should have realized that a king...can't beat a goddess...Glamour flair."
As she shone, Mika's eyes glowed green, and she kicked the ball, shooting it right into Juliana like an invisible rocket. The light died, and Juliana crawled off the field. I could see the ball now. Most of it was painted, except for a small portion of it, most likely to help them identify the ball's location.
"Guys, I have a plan, Terra, Hida, let's do checkmate." Aiko's team began their walks again.
They ran to each end of the arena with one of my disks and tossed it along the end of the opposition's field. As they did that, I attached a disk to the ball they threw and hurled it as hard as I could (Game). Aiko easily did the splits, dodging it, but it hit Anuko with enough force to keep moving at a decent speed (Set). That's when I used Hida's disk to teleport the ball at Mika's side to hit her too (Match). It was over for her.
"Now it's three on one."
"Since I'm alone...you'll know where the ball is coming from, won't you?"
"Yep."
"And even if I do manage to take out one of you, you'll still have someone to throw a disk for you."
"Huh."
"I can't dodge such an attack, nor can I get another ball in time, nor hope to catch your next throw."
"Thaaaat's right."
"...Aaaaagggg, fine." She gave me a blushing smile. "I concede."
" Atta girl," I said with pride.
As we cleared out, the girls and boys gathered around a lady with long, flowing light brown black hair and a lab coat (she looks European, interesting); she must be the new school nurse. We gave our temperature and talked about our sports game results to her, then went back to class.
