I furrowed my brow as I stared at the letter that Yukihina had sent. My eyes glanced up at her. She stood perfectly still like a porcelain doll. Something about this smelled fishy. Why would Setsugen, who refused to bow before me, now offer a ceasefire? Granted, there was a difference between that and accepting my rule.
What should I do?
Vadim stared at Yukihina, his hand at his gladius, ready to protect me should she try anything.
Yukihina sighed. "I already said that I come in peace, Sir Vadim. Lord Setsugen, seeks only to address the growing threat that High Priest Leonardo has described—the Abyssial shadows. He believes that a unified front against such an encroaching darkness is paramount, more vital than our present disagreements." Her voice was, as always, a whisper of ice, devoid of inflection, making it impossible to gauge her sincerity.
"Why now?" I asked, raising my right arm slightly. "What made him change his opinion?"
