"I get that," I said slowly, choosing my words carefully. "It must be tough balancing duties and expectations with what you want. A lot of responsibility comes with that."
Rosemary nodded, her expression thoughtful. "Sometimes it feels like I'm just playing a part, you know? People expect certain things from me, and it can be overwhelming. But moments like this, where I can connect with someone outside of all that, remind me of what really matters."
I sensed a kindness and desire to make a difference that made me want to spend more time with her. "You're doing better than you think. Helping people, even in small ways, makes a difference."
"Thanks," she said, a soft smile spreading across her face. "I just want to be someone people can count on."
"I think you are." I placed a hand over her hand again. "You've already helped me more than you know today."
She blushed and smiled softly. "Thank you, kind Gift Giver."
I let go and scratched the back my head awkwardly.
