Raiki's giggle pulled me from my thoughts. He was playing with the unicorn's tail, a look of pure joy on his face.
Amaya yanked him away gently. "Now, now, Raiki. Leave the nice unicorn alone."
He pouted, but obeyed, his little shoulders slumping.
Hyun-ah chuckled. "He's a spirited one. He'll make a fine warrior one day."
"Or a mad scientist," Amaya muttered.
We all climbed into the wagon, the interior spacious and comfortable. Eumhun snapped the reins and the wagon started moving, the unicorns' hooves making a soft clomping sound on the stone floor. We ascended the sandy pit, the sun beating down on us.
As we reached the surface, I saw them. The bandits. They were camped not too far from us.
Hyun-ah walked behind us, a sword in her hand. "Stay in the wagon. Let me handle this."
Eumhun stopped the wagon. Hyun-ah took a deep breath, her body glowing with a golden light. She raised her sword and pointed it at the bandits.
